    Sales Advice

Hi Andrew, You can post items for sale here if you are in the UK and Europe: https://thesilverforum.com/forum/13-uk-europe/ I think having a good sellers profile is more important than the level of membership. @BackyardBullion has a good video explaining the importance of early trading and how you can achieve credibility here. Additionally, he also offers a middle-man service where he acts as an intermediary between you and a prospective buyer. When posting items for sale put up a photo of the items in question with your name and date written on a piece of paper. More details on how to sell can be found on the following page: Best regards, Alex

What to add to my fledgling stack!

What are you looking to do, collect or trade? I collect. Personally I’d steer clear of oriental Britannia’s as to my mind they are over priced, normal Britannia’s I’d go with. Maples I do like and have collected them for the last few months, the 1½ oz are particularly nice but again it depends on price. All that said, I’ve paid over the odds to get the early Queens Beasts so I can complete my two sets.

    2019 Peter Rabbit 50p

Yup, I received the email, as did @AndrewSL76 who brought the matter up in the Stephen Hawking 50p discussion in the Gold section. Isn't it just wonderful that the Mint are flogging this series to death with a 4th annual issue. And I thought you could only skin a rabbit once. Let's hope that one of the characters is Mr Tod the fox and the coin design shows darling Peter disappearing down Mr Tod's throat. End of story.

How do you enjoy your gold/silver?

Yesterday I was sitting behind two young people and noticed a U.S. quarter (0.19£uk, 0.22€eu) laying on the floor and I asked the nearest of the two "Did you drop a quarter ?", and she responded no, and then just left it there. I turned to the other and said "You ?" and he said no, and then they both laughed and said that it wasn't even worth picking up. I said "Well I'm not to proud to pick it up" and picked it up and put it in my pocket lol. Brats lol.

What to add to my fledgling stack!

I would pluck for either the Perth mint Dragon bars (just stunning), or as you already have brits go for Eagles. Also if you can afford 10 oz it sometimes works out cheaper to go for one 10 oz coin, kookaburra or elephant, although the Perth Mint Dragon Bars are probably still the best price per oz. good luck

UPDATE TIME Ever fancied owning a silver depiction of a pox ridden goat like creature with rotating boar tusks? Today is your lucky day, because The European Mint has just taken physical delivery of their stock and that means we can included them in this (what will no doubt be) a pretty intensive group order. For the avoidance of doubt.... It's Yale time!!

    2019 Peter Rabbit 50p

Anyone else receive an email from The Royal Mint announcing a new Peter Rabbit coin for 2019, launching 19 March 2019? The word “exhaustion” comes to mind...I am sure there are others as well, but this is the best I could come up with. Also noting this was brought up in the Gold 50p Hawking post as well.

    2019 Peter Rabbit 50p

I'm definitely having that top of my CV! Based on the proclamation i've seen previously, but by no means understand, it seems any coin that is to be released has to be proclaimed in the Gazette officially! Usually there isn't a mention of annual or coin series, but which type of coins (Gold, Silver, Piedfort, BUNC, circulated) could be made if required. I'll be interested in what does get released and if it can be referred back to a Gazette document. But that is just being geek chique!

    NGC Grading Submissions Open

One of the things a number of people have asked me to do is to send PF69 modern gold coins back to NGC in the hope that NCS services will get them from a 69 to a 70. This is an entirely viable strategy and will succeed some of the time. However, it lead onto an interesting conversation with NGC UK in that Certified coins are PROHIBITED from being entered for NCS/NGC services (including NGC or PCGS) in the NCS Modern or NCS Gold Tier. They can ONLY be processed in the NCS Regular tier if they are already in a holder. The NCS regular tier is tier grading cost plus 4% of fair market value with a minimum of £20 for conservation. To make it easier to digest, I have prepared this table showing the cost of conserving and grading coins at a number of sample FM Values from £100 to £5000. The NCS modern tier normally has a top value of £1,500 and the NCS Gold tier of £2,500. Normally NCS Gold grading is £55 so if this is entered to NCS Regular it actually costs £5 less at £50 provided the coin has a value of less than £500 all other certified coins are more expensive to conserve. So if you had a 2017 sovereign in PF69 and wanted to try for a 70, the coin is about £700 so the cost would be £46 rather than the uncertified NGC modern cost of £30. Certified Coins FMV of Coin £100.00 £500.00 £700.00 £1,000.00 £1,500.00 £2,000.00 £2,500.00 £3,000.00 £5,000.00 NCS Regular Modern post 1955 £38.00 £38.00 £46.00 £58.00 £78.00 £98.00 £118.00 £138.00 £218.00 Older than 1955 and < £250 not gold £41.00 £41.00 £49.00 £61.00 £81.00 £101.00 £121.00 £141.00 £221.00 Older than 1955 < £2500 not gold £60.00 £60.00 £68.00 £80.00 £100.00 £120.00 £140.00 £160.00 £240.00 Older than 1955 gold £50.00 £50.00 £58.00 £70.00 £90.00 £110.00 £130.00 £150.00 £230.00 Uncertified Coins NCS Modern Service Modern post 1955 £30.00 £30.00 £30.00 £30.00 £30.00 NCS Gold Service Older than 1955 gold £55.00 £55.00 £55.00 £55.00 £55.00 £55.00 £55.00 NCS Regular Service Older than 1955 and < £250 not gold £41.00 £41.00 £49.00 £61.00 £81.00 £101.00 £121.00 £141.00 £221.00 Older than 1955 < £2500 not gold £60.00 £60.00 £68.00 £80.00 £100.00 £120.00 £140.00 £160.00 £240.00 Certified Coins in Gold Tier £50.00 £50.00 up to £500 value should be NCS Regular
