    GBP Plunges.

🤔🤔🤔 this is a serious coin flip. My view has always been in life, expect the worst case scenario and be grateful if your wrong. These are for things I have no control over. When I broke my lumbar spine, and pelvic, and coxyx I was told I would never walk again. Immediately after being told this, I asked a older man in a bed next to me for his walking stick, after being refused one from my surgeon and friend. I got up HOURS after the first of a few surgerys and grabbed my line feed, I walked out the hspt and had a cigarette to the dismay of my friend/surgeon. Although he was right which he knew on another thing. I was told I would be very ill or collapse if I smoked. I had 2 puffs and I knew that was it. I can walk, yes only small distances. But I can. Hoorah!

    Brexit status ...

Watched Maybot this morning defend her stance - give her full credit for her courage and convictions. Not surprised by Raab's honourable resignation but shocked to hear that he was merely a puppet in the negotiations with strings pulled by the back-office in number 10. Davis quit earlier for the same reasons. Government loosing all credibility. One of the best people to listen to is Jacob Rees-Mogg. Many see him as landed gentry or a posh boy but ignore this and just LISTEN to what he says and how he answers questions - one of the few who are crystal clear and down to earth. Only wish we could get him on Question Time tonight and allowed to speak without endless interruptions by the biassed BBC panel choices.

    GBP Plunges.

I got a bit scolded by someone here for saying the GBP is in decline, being told that GBP is rising (it was for a few weeks), but a few weeks rally does not make a rise. Whatever our opinion on Brexit, it is being mismanaged and it's not going healthily. Plus Brexit going tits up isn't GBP's only problem. Here is GBP/USD since 2014: The spike in the middle was the Brexit result day. The overall trend was going down anyway. And here is GBP/USD since 2007: Looks like things are pointing downwards to me. Where I do disagree with the OP is that GBP is plunging on today's news. Today's decline (last bar) isn't anything spectacular:

Having listened to many interviews today on both the BBC and Sky I despair. I don't like the thought of handing the keys over to Brussels, paying them £40 billion and being dictated to by the bureaucrats that found a trump card using the Irish border that accounts for about 0.2% of UK trade. We should take the route of the hard Brexit and quit completely in March next year. Before the deadline, Audi VW, BMW, Bosch et al will be lobbying their government for a free trade deal, as will the Italian Prosseco producers, the French wine producers and the Spanish fruit & vegetable producers. We can sit back and wait a few days then when the politicians wake up to the fact that we are not a soft touch, aren't handing over £40 billion to support a failing project, deals will be struck. As for charging import duties on goods crossing the channel - this doesn't need to happen as this decision will be made by us or the EU according to who burns tyres in the streets. Has anyone heard from the EU as to how they will survive the loss of the UK's contribution ? Bet they are counting on this income for a few more years to bail out Greece and maybe Italy next ? We have a tremendously strong negotiating hand but it looks as if the cracks in our government and the idiots in opposition are playing right into the hands of the EU who are simply waiting and watching our internal self destruction.

Received two packages today one from @BackyardBullion acting intermediary for the sale of 1 oz Gold Queens Beast Lion coin between @Bizzle and myself. BYB packaging as always excellent. The last 1 oz Gold Lion I was after helped me to complete stack of 10. The European Mint delivered the last shipment of 1 oz Gold Queens Beast Coins the set Bull. European Mint communication and packaging has been excellent. My stack gold now complete until next QB 1 oz Gold release. Collected 10x of each 1 oz QB Gold coin. Going into private non-banking related safety deposit box but it will be a real shame when I don't have them nearby to hand any longer.

The coming mini ice age is is the most pressing issue at the moment. This is going to result in the death of millions if not billions of people. The powers that should not be know this is going to happen but in the West we are being peddled the lie of global warming - but there has been no warming since 1998. This Committee on Climate Change is simply spreading lies. It is pure evil.
  22. 3 points
The truth is they wish to further reduce our quality of life by making meat and animal products expensive, so that they can feel altruistic and holy. They also wish to destroy one of the few parts of the UK economy that actually produces something and the end result will be China and the US raising more livestock so no net gain on the climate front. But meat and milk will cost more. Idiots. Besides, we need more cows to stave off global cooling and save us from the next ice age.

I’m borderline never voting again. The only option was hard brexit 2 years ago! We should have ripped off the plaster quickly and left them in total shock and despair instead they have had two years! Spineless politicians! I feel we need a totally new kind of political system but unless we get a hard brexit we probably won’t be able to make such a change. This is that important!

As i mentioned earlier today in another thread (@NRSovereign, @MickB), its often customary (indian heritage) to receive gold (jewellry and coins) during weddings or birth of children. Some of the gold received is often in the style of sovereign coins but are not actually real sovereigns, just gold copies. The reason is people just buy for the gold weight, they dont know or care that it is in the form of a sovereign look. Here is a selection of such coins we have received as gifts. They have been verified as real gold by a jeweller friend of ours. Also ive put a photo of a Full Arabic guinea we received for your interest. Coins are shown in order of weight Top ~1g (1/8 sov) 2nd row ~2g (1/4 sov) 3rd row ~4g (1/2 sov) Bottom ~8g (full sov)

    Gold Proof Sovereigns

I’ve seen that the Royal Mint offer limited edition proof sovereigns at significant margins over spot/bullion coin price. Is there any advantage in these? They always seem to sell out quickly and yet I see them being traded on Chards / Bullion by Post and they don;t seem to have the same premium? Any views gratefully received (BTW. -love the site, signed up as a premium member just to keep it going)

It should have been simple. Not easy sure, but simple. June 2016, result comes in. Cameron triggers Article 50 that morning. Businesses are told they have two years to prepare for trading on WTO terms with their European counterparts. Some businesses fail, other businesses thrive, other businesses fill their place, other businesses adapt and get on with it. Ireland and NI don't build a border in the full knowledge that the EU can't make them. UK waters are controlled exclusively by the UK. UK courts are exclusively run in the UK judiciary. Once the EU realise that they actually do want to sell us their BMWs after all, they call us and ask for a free trade deal between one independent state (UK) and the other (EU). Once they realise they do want to work with us on legal matters like extraditions, etc, they can call us and again ask for an arrangement between two independent states. It's all been such a pig's ear. We shouldn't even still be talking about Brexit by now, Brexit was so 2016!

The Britannias that were 958 silver ( pre 2013 I think ( too lazy to check )) rather than the softer 999 silver were definitely collectible and in great demand. They were lovely coins and you might want to check prices before condemning them to Maple or Philly status. The big mistake in my mind was when the RM decided to make the Brits fine silver and truly cocked up. The way they were minted and handled resulted in very poor quality - big scuffs, reeded dings and the rest. To get round the QC they moved to the patterned fields which don't show the scratches so readily. I agree the newer fine silver Brits are no more desireable than the Perth Mint Kangaroo and other cheaper bullion but the earlier Brits will always attract premiums. The oriental border Brit however, supplied in a cap, from the Mint is a good looking quality coin so they can make 'em if they choose to do so. @QStack - the silver Krugs are a real quality bullion coin.

No offence and nothing personal, but if it were up to me, no one would be able to vote until age 25 at the earliest. I know what I and all my contemporaries were like as students and young adults; no one had a clue what the world was really about. Trying to be part of deciding the future of the country was basically a lottery with potentially damaging consequences. I have also seen what my kids and their friends have been like growing up, they are all now around 30 years old. This has certainly reinforced my previous experience and opinion.

May is dead in the water and should/will be gone in a matter of a few weeks in my opinion, replaced by someone with the guts to honour the decision of the people and the referendum and tell the eurocrats to piss off regardless of the short term pain that will bring to the country.

If we stay in the EU then all it means is things will have to continue to get worse before they get better but eventually it will get better. The cure is often more of the same, high prices are cure to high prices and all of that. The same applies to politics, in particular the ideology of Globalism for lack of a better label. The elite few benefit from it, but the many who work and can vote do not and that is the key. All globalism does for the many is suppress wages, for the workers it is ruinous and pulls up the ladder for anyone trying to improve their lot. Minimum wage has become the ceiling rather than the floor. For professional skilled types their income is lower for the same reason, competition with people who will do the job cheaper - the ladder for many of them has been pulled up too, careers once the path to the middle class are now just a way to get by. Not many years ago most people in the UK described themselves as middle class. The middle class probably won't exist in a few decades if things continue like they are. The last time the middle class was wiped out economically like this was during the great depression and the decades that followed saw political change the like that had not been seen since the French revolution, shortly followed by wars the like that has never been seen in human history. Good times ahead if history rhymes I guess. I am not worried too much though. People are sick and tired of Globalism and despite every indication the people in charge keep trying to push more of it on us, Merkel, May, Macron - people are rejecting it. Nationalism is on the rise as a response. We could do with someone like Trump, a nationalist, looking out for his own country, not someone tied to the mast of an ideology that doesn't work in the real world. The US does generally lead the way culturally. More globalism is the cure to globalism, just give it a few more years.

Since when were Kangaroos, Philharmonics better quality silver? Agreed Maples are 9999 but this has never figured in prices paid. There is way too much talk about CGT here - i don't believe anyone has ever paid CGT on their coins on the silver forum. In my view no-one here should be paying - there are ways around it. Who knows what is sold in private sales - i only would ever be selling 'Britannias' - don't need to declare those. i wish Britannias had the different designs on the BU coins - this would be a big plus. Kangaroos are in my mind one of the nastiest looking coins out. Maples are virtually guaranteed to spot but are good silver and you should pay prices that match their spottiness. Philharmonics - good silver but again boring same old same old design which might spot. i would possibly say the Britannia is the best of the bunch.

And a nice scene reminiscent of real life in Southern Africa - 4 lions chasing a Springbok , all safely tucked up in their Apmex bags mind you , so i reckon the antelope will survive 😊. Those shiny Chad lions were on my “ 2018 must have “ silver coin list - a great image. Will need to get them out of their bags to see how clean the fields are - as there is a lot of surface where marks can occur. Wish me luck.

Two very small Mexican gold coins (2018 1/10 BU Libertads) and for contrast - a stunning 2 ounce silver Mexican mint aztec calendar. Then a 1 ounce QB Griffin - in platinum. Probably not getting all of them in platinum, but this design is very striking in it.
