    • I went in to the town centre yesterday and was faced with the numberplate ticket machines with massive queues of people fumbling to remember their numberplates.  People getting their glasses out to see what they've written down etc.  It's a cluster****.  Then the messing about with stupid additional questions on the screen about mobile phone pay or receipts for cards etc.  Simple coins was so much faster.  The whole numberplate thing is just greed to stop people giving away their ticket to others who are just in for a few moments. Multiple selling the same hour might seem like a grand ruse to some tech geek but in practice the additional complexity makes the whole experience a pain in the erse..  There's something rather churlish about spending so much money on new machines and creating significant inconvenience to the customer simply for the greed of a few extra sales.  No doubt the big data is also being sold by the company that has the contract to provide this inconvenience. Ultimately, the parking provided by councils supports local business and enables citizens to conduct their affairs.  I understand that there has to be a cost of maintaining it but keeping that as low as possible and keeping it simple to use is a good idea if you want to keep your high street.  I now avoid going anywhere near it if I can. Edit.  My thoughts on big data is that it needs to be made illegal in all forms pure and simple.  No collection allowed. It's being used by megalomaniac tech hipsters to turn us into cash cows and suppress our freedom to express our opinions. Its the most fundamental abuse of privacy ever foisted on a peoples and goes against the core values of individual rights in classical liberalism.
    • Totally agree, BTFD seems to be turning into STFR (Sell The Fking Rip). Looking forward to next week's moves. RUT2000 is a poorly bull standing on one leg. Popcorn back out of the cupboard for Mon_Fri.
