    • Honestly I never thought we'd make it this far, I figured we only had a few years after 2008.  These cycles always take longer to play out than you think they will.  That was the case, I remember, back in the 90's when we were waiting for precious metals to bottom out, it took years longer than anybody thought for that to happen, but eventually it did happen.  Same for the .com bubble, for many years people talked about how unsustainable that bubble was, same for the real estate bubble, years upon years to play out, longer than a lot of people who were paying attention ever thought.
    • I try to think of future generations. Someday, after the fall, future generations will be digging through our land fills looking for plastic and glass containers that have remained intact so that they can supplement the gourd and animal bladder containers they use for storing water.  Personally I think its selfish to only consider today's aesthetics and whims and deprive them of this valuable resource.  They may have lost all ability to manufacture even the most simple of things, and I don't want them to die just because of my whimsical biases.  This is especially true of glass containers which are completely inert and other than being an eyesore have zero impact on life, and possibly a positive impact when tossed into oceans where small marine animals can use them as shelter.  Aluminum will also be important, of course, because it degrades so slowly, aluminum cans may someday be the margin between life and death for people after the fall. Hopefully it won't come to that anytime soon.  I'm doing my part to keep the global climate warm enough to stave off another ice age glaciation, but there's nothing I can do about meteor strikes or anything like that.
    • The next downturn will obviously be a doozy. Rising food prices will make it even worse. Watch food commodities closely as countries place export bans on their produce. I will be very surprised if the big crash doesn't happen in 2019.
    • Yeah I had three tests done which I think are just for eye health Clicking whenever you see a dot, puff of air in the eye and then I think maybe a photo with a flash?  I was a bit worried because the other week I seemed to suddenly get quite a lot of floaters, but that's calmed down now
