I like the subject, the graphics and the issue is small (2,000 of each). Does the fact they are Sterling Silver limit their prospects   ?

If you like the subject and the strike, the future prospects of the coin might not be so important to you.

But as for their future profit potential, it is fairly limited.  I can buy sterling silver proof coins are spot price without any issue.  It's always a difficult call on memorial coins: some hold their value quite well, but others really struggle.

I would not buy these in the hope of making a profit, based on numismatic demand alone.

Believe there's circa 7 thousand of silver bu that have been issued prior to some kind of recall while they unravel a trademark issue. At around 25 these are more my tip. They carry the full motto.

Was just coming here to make a post about this - these are different coins. The problem is with the Britannia, where they have had to remove the motto, "Britannia Rules the Waves" due to copyright.

As you say there are 7,329 out there in the wild and they are drying up fast, the rest of the 50,000 run have the motto removed.

The coin itself looks terrible IMO.  The proportions of Britannia look completely wrong from her weak-jawed face to the way the poorly done helm sits on her head.  On the obverse, Pobjoy has managed to make the Queen look like Abe Vigoda in drag...

If you think the coin with the motto will make it a winner in the future, then it's worth picking up.  But purely from a design perspective, it's a miss for me.

I thought the helmet is flash Gordon vibes... But yes the rarity of the full motto is the chief pulling power, for me anyway. But you know it's in the eye of the beholder.☺

Last week I put an order in for one of these with Yorkshirebullion as they had them on pre-sale. They've now removed it from their website so it looks like I won't be getting one now. :(

For those interested in the trademark violation version of this coin, here's an interesting and not very expensive I might add ($49.50) way to pick one up PCGS slabbed and graded with the trademark violation identified on the label.  Considering the coin itself probably goes for around $20 or so and it's $20+ to be graded by PCGS, this isn't a bad deal.  Enjoy!

My unmodified coin arrived today from Yorkshire bullion. When it was removed from their site it was because they had sold out. I did email to ask which version I was getting and they assured me it would be the original version. Wish I had bought a few more now!

About 5 days ago I bought 3 Britannia Rules the Waves crowns on eBay from Son Montuno.

the price was $33 per coin. The same seller has an auction ending today...

bids at $67 each and rising... this one has captured the imagination it seems.
