Question about Transferwise and Faster Payments

Guest

Recommended Posts

Silly question but I need to ask. And mods/admin, I didn't know in which section of the forum to post.

When sending money to Transferwise, does it matter if the money is sent via a savings account or a current account in terms of speed?

Both my accounts can receive faster payments, but I asked at the counter today and the cashier told me it's better if the money is sent via the current account. Is there any truth in this or are they just telling porkies as usual?

I find it easier to use a debit card from a current account, quick and simple.

Easier and quicker yes, but there's a 2% premium on gs.be if I'm not wrong. Plus my bank charges me an extra 2.75% on foreign currency transactions. On £1k this can add up to £50.

EDIT: Sorry. I misunderstood you. You meant debit card to Transferwise, not to the final dealer. It makes sense now!

No I mean use a debit card to pay your GBP into Transferwise. Your bank shouldn't make a charge as it's a GBP payment and neither will GS.BE as they are getting paid in Euro.

To me it's easier and quicker to cash out in Transferwise with a debit card rather than go to online banking to make a transfer.
