Best Silver Proof Sets for Investment

For a long time I've stacked bullion grade silver coins to simply make weight.  However I'm getting more and more interested in collecting a set or series that would hold its value and hopefully prove a good investment in the long run.

Any advice, or views are greatly appreciated.

I would advise stacking gold sovereigns to equal value of your bullion grade silver.

Silver proofs can do well if you pick right or bad if you pick unpopular designs.

You also have the major problem of milk spotting occurring on your super shiny, super struck, superbly packaged, super expensive £ proof silver

I just play it by ear and look at new releases on their individual merits, these are my main criteria

  • I like the design
  • it's from a collected series
  • History has shown coins from that series can go for way beyond their issue price
  • There's a buzz about them on the forum(s)
  • Mintage is reasonable

Personally I only really like stuff from the Royal Mint

If It's a cool Sovereign, Britannia or Queens Beast  I will get one in some form or another

I'm hoping the Britannia design is something really special and nice this year, that could be a real winner if it is.
