Indeed it is assuming it is as knocked about as you say.

I would be interested in seeing better pictures.

I have found that sovereign prices are way too high in Germany as a rule anyway.

Thanks for offering it here.  I am really keen to get one of these old Sydney sovereigns ... but I think you may be better sticking it up on eBay and seeing if you can get to £300 by auction, then net of fees you will have made a bit more than the bullion price...

good luck. 

I am expecting to pay about £400+ for one in a better condition...but they are not easy to find!

Dealers are going to overcharge in general, unless you have a good relationship with them.  I recently paid almost as much as that for one from a dealer after a slight reduction in price even though I have seen the occasional better condition one in auction for less.

If only it didn't have those gouges it might have still been worth buying at above bullion but together with the edges...
