Queens Beast Unicorn of Scotland Proof

Recommended Posts

Looks good to me for the next in the proof series...

But where is the Griffin and the dragon?

Why jump ahead and not do the bullion versions already released!

Regardless it seems I am a slave to the Royal Mint as I have ordered the silver proof (1oz) and 1/4oz gold proof!

Don't forget to use topcashback for 4% on silver and 2% on gold!

Hmm probably my least favourite design so far, not that it's bad though, just not as cool as the others

Very odd they release the bullion Griffin and Dragon but do the Unicorn first.. I was expecting the Griffin

I wonder whether this means we will be getting a 2017 bullion unicorn this year. I would also not be surprised if by the end of the year we get the Griffin and dragon proofs.

The wallet looks at me with sad eyes...

Think i'll wait till they pop up in Europe for a cheaper deal

Assuming the lower mintages don't push up the premium after they are sold out from RM

Just saw that the 1/4 ounce gold has a lImit order of 3 for the unicorn. Very odd that they think this would sell out if they had no limit order, they must think that it will be a fast seller.

Just picked up the One ounce Silver proof.  Thanks for the heads up all!  The mintage on the One ounce proof is down to 6,000 from the Lion which was at 8,500.  The 1/4 ounce Gold proof looks amazing but coming in almost $600 USD for a 1/4 of Gold is a bit too rich for me. I could almost stomach the $447 USD for the Five ounce Silver Proof but I'm going to be happy with my One ounce proof right now.  While this may not be my favorite of the series so far, I will give it to them that they did a really nice job toughening up a Unicorn to look imposing.  You can imagine that much less a challenge with a Lion, Griffin or Dragon.

Doubtful, look how long the lion gold proof took to sell, i also got the silver proof over here for €79 when the RM were selling them at £85

The 1/4 proof lion came out in europe 70gbp more expensive.

Yes they didn't sell out fast initially as even many people here were waiting and watching, then suddenly the last 1000/2500 disappeared (wen't to foreign dealer)

The reduction from 2500 > 1500 shows they did hope to sell them faster i think, but better for people who are buying into the series

Not everywhere in Europe was more expensive, in fact i just picked a Lion up for just £15 over the initial price, that seller had them at think €475 when they came out or thereabouts, he was also selling the silver proof at less than the RM release price.

Just looked up the 1oz silver proof Lion, it was €88,95 which is around £77,50, the RM was selling them for £85

Personally i don't buy any silver from the RM apart from the occasion brits for base stack. The spotting isn't worth the risk for me, maybe thats why these were sold off cheaper than initial price who knows.

15 over the initial price for the 1/4 gold is very fair, but your original point was you'd pick them up cheaper. I think with the lowered mintage that would be a tall ask imho

They were in pre-sale before the mint had them out, as for the gold, i have just today bought another at £15 over the RM price, i bought my other many moons back at less the RM price. It was graded at PF69

I see, so similar to Arshi over here. I'm sure you'll get it a little under, personally i'd rather grab a few just in case they do decide to fly out

So as i thought, cheaper in the EU, just got myself a few  4 to be exact, don't want to be greedy

I will buy from RM only because I know I can return no fuss and they will refund the postage if there's any problems

Fingers crossed they aren't all going to be milk spotted like the lions

I think I might get 3

I would imagine that buying from Europe to the UK will incur some postage costs, and as someone else mentioned I would much prefer the free return and replacement from the RM in the event of a quality issue.

The postal fee is 16.89 euro + 89.76 for the coin = 106.65 euro which is £92.74 + transferwise fee , i would go with the RM at £85 delivered less 4% topcashback and free returns
