Here's 10 reasons why collectors collect

Good video. Made me think about how things have changed since I started buying gold and silver as an investment based purely on the spot price. I now spend a lot of time researching coins I buy and learning their history so the nostalgia point is valid there I think. There is a lot of quality historical pieces on the market for near spot prices, particularly the gold coinage.

Some of the modern series are also great for combining investing and collecting (queens beasts, lunars), also pre-decimal sovereigns are great for collecting at spot. I guess its still about accumulation of wealth ultimately which has also become something of a hobby which is great.

I know that a number of people here are interested in modern Chinese medals as I am and when I was reading Peter Anthony's new book this week he says somewhere near the end that there is every likelihood that this period between 2014 and 2018 will in hindsight be seen as at the very least a silver era in the production of modern Chinese coins and medals.

It seems to be that true collectors will benefit more than others from the future gains since they are the ones who have the interest and do the research and take the risk as well.
