Ok who was the lucky bugger who bought this set for £2885 from bullionbypost just now?

Can't believe i didn't check my email quick enough...Nice buy!!

Are you sure this was a nice buy ?
Assuming the 6 coin set is 60g of fine gold that puts a premium on this set of 50%.

I once bought a specific year gold Brit proof from this seller at a high margin and had to return due to the greasy finger marks on the coin that was in a cap.
Note to anyone selling proofs even in FDC condition BbP only pays bullion price so "NICE PROFIT" !.

I know you're well aware, but you can't think of collectibles in terms of grams

1oz Silver Proof 2014 Brit sold for £411.00 recently, that's what, 30x spot?

Anything special about 2014 ?
If not that's 4 x price

I bought a silver Britannia proof 4 coin set in FDC condition recently for £140 and that contains a one ounce coin.

Yes it is "special" as it's very popular and sought after, an iconic design.

The set has six coins and sells for much more than the standard 4 coin set you recently bought.

So we now know who bought this set...?

I saw it and thought exactly the same lol

Don't see the point of listing it at a price no one will ever buy, guess they're just showing off :P

Perhaps hoping to catch a real sucker !!
Listing at the price of £12.5k might tempt a newbie to offer £10k and think they have got a bargain.
My other half buying shoes or clothes doesn't tell you the price she ( oops me ) paid, only that she got 70% off in the sale.

..thats a crazy 584.3% premium (including the additional £15 p&p & spot at £950)

Even LCC have the standard 2014 gold 3 coin proof set (150 mintage) for a mere 220% premium (£1.9k)

Just bought this set privately (2014). Will be able to sell it at £2850 if anyone is interested. That is subject to the seller not changing his mind before tomorrow when my son should pick it up.

PM sent, I am interested.

Thank you

This was a great and straightforward deal, I have now received the 6 coin gold proof set, thanks to  @gizmo1947, a great and nice gentleman, thanks to him !  :)

Photos are in the "Today I received" topic

The guy made one post ever and managed to do a £3k deal. What a stud!

Less than £3k ;)

But the price was not his first concern, as this sale was done in a special context. Moreover, Numismatic coins are not his business

A set sold yesterday for over £4000

Makes me wish I understood the numismatic side of this, sounds like it's easy money if you know what to pick!

For me though it's all about weight and ideally fractional at low premium for easy buy/sell in the future. I look at that new Una coin and I honestly think I'd have picked two 1oz brits over one 2oz Una if nobody had told me the relative value 🤣
