That's a great website and shows the percentage of silver in various coins, but I'm embarrassed to say that I don't fully know how to convert percentages into grams.

I know that 31.1 grams of silver equals to one troy ounce of silver. But I don't know what a coin with a 50% silver content is in grams. Really need some help with this guys!

Here's a few to get you started:

Canada 10 cents - 1858-1919 = 2.32g 92.5% / 1920-1966 = 2.33g 80% / 1967 = 2.33g 80% or 50% (in 1967 they minted them with ethier 80% or 50% silver and you won't know which one you have)

Canada 50 cents = 11.66g 80%

US 1 dime = 2.5g 90%

US 1/2 dollars - 1943-1952 = 12.5g 90% / 1965-1968 =11.5g 40%

SA 2 1/2 shillings = 14.14g 50%

SA 1 shilling = 5.65g 92.5%

Swiss 5 francs = 15g 83.5%

Dutch 2 1/2 guilders = 15g 72%

Dutch 1 guilders = 6.5g 72%

German 5 marks = 11.20g 62.5%

All listed above is the type of coin - it's actual weight and the % of how much silver is in the coin,

For example The German 5 marks weights 11.20g and contains 62.5%silver. To get the actual silver content for the coin all you need to do is to put into a calculator (its weight) 11.20 - 62.5% (% of silver) = 7 ( so you total silver content for the German 5 marks is 7g of fine silver)

Just work out the sums for the rest of your coins then total it all up,

To get the other coins weights and silver contents, just do a search in google and it will bring it right up.

Hope this helps
