The gold target what coin..

When I first got into silver and gold the aim was to have at least one or 2 small gold coins the first one I got was 1/10 maple really nice coin then I got the 1/10 american gold eagle and I have to say I was disappointed it did not have the lustre of the maple leaf just felt inferior to that coin( I know that's stupid )  and after that I had a goal of getting a 1oz gold coin I knew it was not going to be the eagle I soon had the target of getting a buffalo and my mind was set .. But this lasted about 4 month and now my mind is set on the coin I know I'm going to aim for it's the libertad so that's the goal by the end of 2017 I aim to have one of these striking coins even though it will probably mean me having to trade something in to part fund it. So the question is what coins have you bought and not regretted but felt disappointment from?

I mainly stack silver but i like you would also like to have some gold. There is a thread in the ''personal finance/other investment'' section of the site for the penny a day challenge which i am doing for get some gold. Check it out and this could be something that will help you to save and get some gold.

I would not say i have bought anything i have regretted, i have bought stuff that i will not buy again. Eagles and maples are coins i will not buy anymore, i stack less elephants and UK stuff cause of milking. Its a real shame because i really like those elephants. I have bought some things off ebay that i have regretted but only regretted the price i paid, not the actual coins.

Now for gold, milking is not an issue so you can buy anything. When i finish the penny challenge, i will either buy a 1oz brit are a 1/2oz brit and the 2x 1/4oz queens beast coins. The libertad is a fantastic coin, even the silver version. I look forward to its late release every year :)

Make new friends but keep the old.

One is silver and the other gold

As of now I don't regret any gold coins but that has changed again and again

first 2 coins were £800 each for 1oz Brit and eagle, loved them, bought first panda and regretted the brit and eagle because of the poor strike of Brit and colour or eagle, then Brexit price jumped and love those 2 again.      So as of now all is good, but if I go to the pandas and they have red spots won't be happy.

love the look of the libertad and would love one in my collection but it's one where I think the proof would blow the Bu out the water

I bought three 1 oz gold Brits and came to regret them,  sold them all since, 2 for about £170 profit with the gold upswing so it didn't turn out too badly

Personally I don't see the benefit of a 1 oz gold coin vs four 1/4s or sovereigns

Oh yes I once bought a 1/4 proof sovereign for bullion price, looked like shite lol

I got a 2005 proof sovereign, didn't check it under a lupe, has finger prints and a small scratch so <_< that's a regret not checking it

Collecting is sometimes trial and error.  A few years ago I decided to collect 1/10 oz gold coins from around the world. Managed to buy  about 20 different ones.  The only problem was that they were two small for my failing eye site and they were just to small in general, also they command a huge premium.  At the end of the day - I sold them all and started collecting the 1/4 ounce size. I regret  buying all those 1/10th sizes, but love the 1/4 ounce size.

I don't regret or dislike any of the coins I've bought, but my first libertad purchase, a 5oz silver, was slightly disappointing as I expected the finish to be shiny rather than matte. It's still a lovely design though.

I did go through a phase of wishing I hadn't bought any small gold bars instead of coins, but they have grown on me and I now look out for small bars 1/10oz-10g.
