Opinion: 2017 Annual Coin Sets

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am not a coin collector but I'm sure some people here collect general coins and I was was wondering what people thought of the 2017 sets with the new pound and whether it's worth collecting this purely for this reason. Also I do really like the Jane Austin and House of Windsor coin.

I was looking at the proof sets and between the two "collector" and "premium" there is a difference of £50 and a different box and release?? Is there anything I'm missing?

Currently building my silver stack so looking for Kooks, Koalas, Eagles & Pandas

Outside of silver I also run a technology YouTube channel http://youtube.com/thenorthernblogger

The Royal Mint has produced many commemorative coins over time. Most of them do not succeed as an investment.

If you are collecting them b/c you really like them then go get them but if you are doing it to potentially make money I would think very hard about this. Often release prices are inflated and the price falls in the aftermarket. After a few years they are worth spot if they are precious metal or face value if they have any and can be used.

Always cast your vote - Spoil your ballot slip. Put 'Spoilt Ballot - I do not consent.' These votes are counted. If you do not do this you are consenting to the tyranny. None of them are fit for purpose.
A tyranny relies on propaganda and force. Once the propaganda fails all that's left is force.
