Just found this on the Paradise Mint Website - Proof Silver Griffin - Graded by PCGS

http://www.paradisemint.com/2017-Great-Britain-2oz-Silver-Queens-Beast-Griffin-PCGS-PR69-DCAM--Flag-Label_p_5394.html

Could This be true?

How very bizarre... Either ParadiseMint have photoshopped the MS69 into a PF69, or PCGS have attached the incorrect label.

That coin's serial number is a MS69, not a proof.

Yes the PCGS website has it as an MS69. Sadly no photo available.

A rare typo and collectors piece perhaps if it were a genuine one.

That Paradise Mint has a lot of NGC coins slabbed as PL70 where every other coin would be an MS70, their PL70 silverback gorilla looks the exact same coin as my MS70 gorillas.

There are some instances when a coin is struck from a new die it leaves the appearance of a prooflike surface.  This can be seen in a lot of us coins - particularly the 2009 ultra high relief $20 gold piece.

I believe that both grading companies use a reflection method to determine if the coin has a prooflike surface.

Just checked the website again and it Looks like they changed the photo to a ms69 griffin now.  I have a confirmed shipped order so I am very curious to see if I receive the error label.

Will keep everyone posted

Email from paradise mint:

The 2oz Queens Beast series is only in Mint State. There is not PR version. PCGS made what they call a mechanical error and mislabeled the coin. We noticed the their error before we had shipped any coins out. We overnighted the coins back to PCGS who fixed the labels and then overnighted them back to us corrected.

any hopes of the mislabeled coin ??????

And that's that!

at least I have the picture of the mistake - might print it out and put on the coin holder

Yeah right, a mechanical error. Some idiot didn't properly check which coins existed and which didn't. They are probably churning through so many of these modern silver issues, their quality control procedures sometimes fail and throw up the odd cock-up

It took the Royal Mint quite a while to release a silver proof of the Lion and it is a 1 oz coin.

http://www.royalmint.com/shop/The_Lion_of_England_2017_UK_One_Ounce_Silver_Proof_Coin

So it was highly unlikely that the proof version of the Griffin would be out so quickly, in 2 oz and... not even available or mentioned on the official website.
