OOH!

I remember that you had a good deal but how do you feel about this Dan?

Two out of sixty isn't too bad, there are others with very tiny spots but these two were by far the worst.

Overall, pretty pleased to be honest.
@Danny-boy only one?

Two like that, some others with tiny spots, but overall not as bad as I imagined.

925 sterling? that's unusual.

I opened a virgin tube of RCM birds of prey today, thought I ought to cap them as I'd some spare ones kicking around, and was surprised to find only the end one was milked. The rest were shiny pristine.

It was a strange milk actually, looked like a cross between milk and toning. I was wondering if it had something to do with the small amount of foam packing in contact with that coin?

I'll try the home-brew EZ cleaner on it.

What solution ( e-Z-est equivalent ? ) have you mixed and are you happy with the results ?

@Danny-boy- can I ask how you had them stored before you looked at them ? Were they loose in the QB RM tubes? I ask because I put some into the AirTite X6D caps and some I left in the RM tube.  Maybe I will dig them out of storage and take a look!  Hope you still have plenty good ones.

Haven't tried it yet. I got the thiourea and sulphamic acid suggested by Flutter and will make some up as she suggested in the next day or two. I have a few toned coins I'd like to try and was looking for some milked ones. Thought RCM stuff was a good bet!

I think EZest cleaner has a sulphuric acid base but Flutter suggested sulphamic would be as good. Easier to handle and store as it's solid.

Will let you know.

Very interested in your results but be VERY careful mixing the solution and maybe do this outdoors - avoid breathing the stuff.
Once mixed I think it will be okay indoors and maybe stored in a plastic container with a sealed lid.

When I had a blackened USA Eagle dipped in e-Z-est it was only for a few seconds - maybe 5 secs at most.
It was charcoal black all over and turned out brilliant shiny after a single dip.
Have a container of water ready or running tap to plunge / rinse your coins after dipping but do this immediately to rid all the acid.

I made up some imitation EZest using thiourea in sulphamic acid and it cleaned up toning nicely but didn't touch a heavily milk stained RCM bird. I think I'll have to find a coin with the odd one or two milk spots and see if that works.

Bought some EZest the other day.  Removes toning very effectively but wouldn't do anything to a milk stained UK Lunar.

Anyone looking to buy EZest in the UK can try here:

or direct from their website www.purity24.co.uk (unsure of final costs).

If anyone wants to try the stuff I made up, I can weigh up the two solids to make up whatever volume you want and it'll ship ok. I can work out how much it cost me, won't be much, and postage will just be a quid or so.
