Scuff removal from capsules

A while ago, @fehk2001 posted a link on a thread to a YouTube video showing how a capsule can polished back to a mint state.  That got me thinking about a product which I received as a sample some years ago.  I dug it out a few days ago and gave it a quick go today.  This tube could be as old as 10 years so I'm sure how it fairs with a fresh tube.

It may be possible to get the same result using toothpaste as part of the process is the polishing with micro particles within the substance.

Here are my results.  Please share if you have any other methods of removing scuffs from caps.

My Moon Panda came with some light scuffs

 

My 2015 Smithsonian Panda has a lot of scuffs. Some quite deep.  The minor scuffs have come out but deeper ones still remain.  May be possible to reduce/remove it with further polishing.

This is the product.  It's worked quite well and seeing how I had it lying around for free it's saved me from replacing the Perth Mint capsules which are quite expensive.  I have no affiliation with the company or product but thought I'd share my results.

Dont forget to clean the capsule with warm water  because chemical may damage the coin ( just in case )

I use a Micro-Mesh super fine grit polishing sheets for polishing plastic related surfaces.  I have a range of them, and the finest is 12,000 grit.  I get good results.

could use the stuff we used to use on cellulose car paint many years ago, T-Cut I think it was called. Essentially fine abrasive rubbing compound.
