Marriage Tax Allowance Rebate

Recommended Posts

I have just applied for this myself and thought i'd share. I sat down a few minutes ago with a mug of coffee and im done the application and my coffee is still to hot for drinking. Thats how fast it was.

In a nutshell:

If 1 partner works and earns between £11k and £43k and the other partner earns less than £11k, than the other partner can transfer 10% of their total allowance ( £11k /10 =£1100) to the higher earner giving them a new tax allowance of £12100 for this year. This started in 2015 and there is an option the get back paid for last year which is £210. It also auto renews until the other spouse owns more than the tax allowance.

After applying, it said i would receive an email within 24 hours. I will update as new information comes to me. Lets hope were adding £210 into the silver pot for my next order :)

Once registered don't you have to submit an annual tax return?

I remember looking into it, but in the end feeling that I would rather not give any  more info for the sake of £200.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.
