I saw this yesterday, and I did have a good laugh. It's just a normal sovereign; unless there was a special privy mark or something to indicate the minting date, it has nothing to distinguish it. £300+ is a lot to pay for a little certificate (easy to fake I'd imagine) and a box.

I actually hope they don't sell any at all

Before even clicking through I see it's from the Royal Mint. Automatically a rip-off & not worth it.

I clicked through just to see how big of a rip-off this newest "deal" is. The ONLY thing that makes this "worth" twice as much as a normal sovreign is a certificate with a certain date on it. I don't know who buys Royal Mint products, but if they're reading this, I have many bridges to sell them. Call me on 555-SUCKERS-ONLY or email me at takemymoney@moremoneythansense.com.

I don't care about my own birthday let alone the birthday of a spoiled little brat.

Ha, I can't believe this. I feel sorry for the people who think it's a good purchase.

Go and ask them why the coin is a collector's delight.

If I do, they will quote marketing bumpf at me. Besides, they know their stuff; one read of this forum is enough to prove that a collector who convinces himself he must have something, will pay pretty much anything he can afford to get it. If you collect sovereigns, then it may well prove to be a delight, as indeed any other sovereign would.

If nobody bought the RM stuff then they would drop their prices.

People obviously lap this shit up, so they will continue with the hilarious prices.

If it took over 12 months to sell a silver coin for face value, imagine how long some of the other stuff sits around for!!!!

Stacker since 2013

£310 for a cardboard box and a piece of paper !

High demand even ! ???

The coin is not even a proof - just a standard bullion coin, no different to those sold by Atkinsons-

http://atkinsonsbullion.com/gold-coins/new-2014-full-gold-sovereign-coin

Yea but if you buy from Atkinsons you don't know what date it was struck and you don't have a COA to prove it was struck on that date

this royal mint site would be good if they had a category for discontinued products or offers  then at least they might get some interest

I had a good laugh the other day at the other set of clowns  the London mint

they were advertising some 22 ct gold plated coronation medal  1977 it was sort of 2 colours like the £2 coin  normally £69.99  yours for only

£9.99  went on e bay and a couple of others   £9.99 seem to be what every body else was selling it for anyway
