I will hopefully be getting the set on Monday, or perhaps Tuesday but I'm hoping Monday

I'm still half expecting to get robbed lol maybe start a #pray4Kman trend on twitter if you don't hear from me again..

But hopefully will get them Monday and post pictures and perhaps make a youtube video for them the same day.

Are you buying them from a dealer or just a random person? Hope you're not taking cash kman.

it may seem a bit dodgy or suspicious

But i have done a few in person purchases in my city centre casino in Newcastle.

Guarantee safe environment & neutral ground for both parties

Central location, well known locally, door security, normally busy with people, lots of seating during day, small quiet corners, coffee/soft drink on tap

Open door policy these days, you are filmed & him are upon entry and everything going on while youre in there.

A deal for a gold coin or two does not exactly arise mega suspicion. Just like passing a £2 coin to one another

Pack your, Loupe, pocket scales, coin gauge card, digital calipers in pocket if further required, Details of the coin dimension/weight.

All can be packed in a coat pocket

If the deal is agreed, counting out £1k+ in cash could be just you seen as lending a friend, or him paying what he owes you

Never had a problem at all, and people selling complimenting me on it being a good idea to meet where we did.  Rember it can be just as much of a worry to the seller not knowing who he is selling to also.  He has £1000+ worth of value as you have £1000+ of fiat notes in your sky rocket

i remember you saying you were based in London, I have visited the Hippodrome and Empire in Leicester Square and both could be used for such a deal very easily.

Or Aspers Stratford in Westfield is massive.

hope it all goes well for you :)

Atkinsons have a lot of new and interesting coins up

They have a 2002 half sovereign but not at a very competitive price I have to say.. pretty much around what you pay on ebay

@paul it would be £850 wouldn't it, just the delivery on the 1/10 means a lot more

I bought that 1/10 Brit a bit earlier. It's about 20% over but I collect 1/10ths and is an acceptable premium for me.

I wanted the Isle of Man half Sov at £105.xx but when I clicked onto the page that price was for 2+. For one it was £112 or so and they didn't have 2 in stock to buy :(

I ALWAYS factor in the cost of delivery in my average cost per oz silver & gold

You are having to pay it after all, whether it is shown as FREE or you are paying £6.50 as with HGM.

You certainly don't get your delivery costs back when you come to sell so they really need to be factored in with the price you pay in my opinion.

So i would need to have gold at  £910 an oz before i would be in profit in my eyes from that 1/10.

(You buy x1000oz of silver in your lifetime as 'single' coins via eBay from different people & that is £2.50 x 1000 = £2500 just on postage !!)

That is a good few more oz that could be on the stack if bought in

had an e mail from the gold bullion co  saying they have between 3-4.5%  on 4 selected sovereigns,  it is a honest reduction , but their still more expensive than most , i think theyre  elizibeth 11  decimal and pre decimal   vic  veiled head  and george v

prices between £197-£203

Pah, they're all gold. Unless I was collecting sovs specifically I would just get the cheapest. 7.32g of gold is still 7.32g whether it was minted today or 100 years ago.

that is very true silversword, we should have a penny pinchers thread on gold and silver

ie  gold sovs mixed years  at  company number 1 £193.21... can anyone find one at £192.99  etc etc  only a pennies game but it will probably add up to a £3-£7 saving when finished  could be done with all pm,s really

we do drop into the habit of thinking hgm being lowest for sovs , theyre probably not with the £6.50 del added

whilst it is not an exceptionally cheap deal - looking on atkinsons site, they are down to their last gold lunar snake 1/4 & 1/2 oz's

x1 of each left.

i think once these are gone that is them gone from their shelves for good.

as we are are now 2015 goat, a small premium could be put on these now if you had to resell privately, to fill collectors lunar gaps

its a bit of a gamble with them pic's and the description, have you read the questions to the seller at the bottom lol

Q:  Hi what does item weigh.

A:  hi i dont know what it weighs .i dont know how to weigh gold .i dont know the carat .i dont know if its a full ,half or real soverign.i do know its stamped gold thats about it

Q:  Hi there, does the ring contain a real sovereign or imitation on, and is it a full or half sovereign please...

A:  HI sorry i really dont know .its just a ring to me .i dont understand carat weight etc .all i know is its stamped gold i bought it myself for the millennium because the coin is dated 2000.im selling because its out of shape and dosent fit .i wouldnt say its heavy just thought it be nice for a coin collector then rest of the ring can be scrapped

this is one of the small downsides of sovereigns.  No stamp showing purity or measure of what it is ie 1/10 or 1/4oz, wether its .999 fine or 22crt, no monetary value displayed on it to know its size like gold britannias have.

For the untrained like this seller it is hard for them to accurately describe it

I think it's bad he hasn't bothered to weigh it when people have asked for the weight tsk.

......or he knows fine well its a half sovereign and hope two greedy bidders will bid it to nearly a full sovereign value, claiming blissful ignorance to what it is as he has no scales to weigh it.

even the stupidest seller will know the primary value of gold is in its weight, so at least weigh it so to give a rough approximate weight for any bidders

He said he bought it so he must KNOW EXACTLY what it is.

Price weight etc.

My advice is stay away.
