Mail Box address to hide your real address

I posted a similar topic in the Premium Members Lounge. I have decided to post here to garage an interest. If we get enough members to purchase at the same time we can get a discount, and there is also possibility of extending an insurance cover of parcels whilst MBE is holding them, but this all depends on numbers.

This address can be used to give a level of privacy so the person sending your items does not know your real address. This can be used as extra protection when buying from bullion dealers, so their staff do not know your address or when purchasing from other forum members to give an added level of security.

I am currently in discussions with MBE (Mail Boxes Etc) to try to secure a group discount for The Silver Forum members.

It will be about (25% or 29% cheaper to prepay for a year rather than monthly. Depending on personal or business box) The prices for prepaying for a year are.

Prices 

Inside of London. Business. £336 Per Annum. (Including VAT)
Inside of London Personal. £228 Per Annum. (Including VAT)

Rest of UK. Business. £324 Per Annum. (Including VAT)
Rest of UK. Personal. £216 Per Annum. (Including VAT)

Discount

So far I have managed to get an additional 3 months for free. Which for the 'Rest of UK' is a saving of £81 for business or £54 for Personal boxes. 

Effective Monthly Cost After Discount

After the discount would make the effective monthly cost of a box: (note this is just effective price as amount needs to be prepaid for the year)

London. Business. £22.40 per month.
London. Personal. £15.20 per month.

Rest of UK. Business. £21.60 per month.
Rest of UK. Personal. £14.40 per month.

This discount will only be applicable if enough members wish to take up this offer. I may or may not also be able to get a further discount if enough members are interested.

Please can you let me know if you would be interested in a box at the above discounted price, so I can get an idea how many members would be interested. So far one member has indicated that they would be interested in a box. But we need more members if we would like the discount.

Good idea, but are you suggesting that people are actually getting PMs sent to their home address?

All your post gets send to your MBE mailbox, that is nearest to you, where you can collect the mail. (24/7?). If you want the post send from the mail to your home address, you would need to notice the 'forwarding service' team but that will be an additional cost.

A lot of people send to their home address.

Some people use business addresses, or a work address to give more privacy.

A MBE box is an alternative to the above. In my opinion a better alternative, but that's just my opinion.

I think it may be dependant on store, and it around £3.50 handling fee (plus materials, postage/courier costs)

MBE are a franchise company, with their individual shops owned by hundreds of smaller companies. I'm would not be happy having my pm's sent to a company that works that way. The more franchises they set up, the less control they will have over security. 

We have an MBE locally, and I've popped in a couple of times looking at their packing materials prices, and even bought some cardboard tubes in the past, the staff there are not the brightest and the security there does not look to be the greatest. (No external cctv, and only one camera in the shop itself - I used to purchase and fit CCTV's for a retail company, so I have a habit of noticing these things). It is in a very old tudor style building, situated away from the main shopping areas in lets say a less salubrious location and used to be next to a "head shop", (before that was closed down because it was also selling non legal highs as well as the legal ones,) and there were always dodgy characters hanging around the area.  

MBE does have a great name and is respected around the world, but is only as good as its weakest franchise, and i'd certainly be nervous of having PM's sitting in one of their offices for any length of time, especially my local one. But it could be the exception to the rule. 

But that's just my opinion, and no doubt this offer that Chris has set up will be of use to some people.

From the perspective of a dealer, If you were to try to buy metal from us and ask to have it sent to a mail box it will ring quite a few alarm bells especially if you are trying to purchase with a credit or debit card. 

For our company (I can't speak for the policies of all dealers), to post to a mail box we would need you to have a verified account which means additional security checks including providing proof of identity and address.

Our insurers just won't cover mail sent to these addresses.
