Will Threepence tubes do the job?

Sites differ in their opinion but some say diameter was 21.8mm, or 22mm across the corners. Sov's come in at 22.05mm.

The 3p and 6p tubes look the same size there.    Even then, I don't know.  Probably too small.  Maybe something more suited for a shilling or quarter dollar but they will rattle.

I managed to hit just over 57oz in about 2 years in my last stack before selling up so I reckon I can do it.

I estimate 5-6 stacking years though.

Has anyone ever seem a pic of the original RM box tubes of sovs come in, cant find any on google?

Good old bullion by post, even when selling in multiples of 500 they cannot better the price of HGM per single sovereign.?

Yes but they are new, fresh from mint 2016 sovs, Must be worth more than old boring used coins, surely?

I thought I would grab a few to satisfy my curiosity.

Unfortunately, I have no Sov's only 1/4 oz's :D

I can report that it is a nice fit (1/4 Brits 22mm, Sov's are 22.05mm), with slightly less rattle than the Sov tube due to it being thick card instead of plastic. Reckon you would get about 40 in.

Currently stacking 1/4 oz (22ct) and Sovs.

Not really the right size but  somebody may have use for them.

EDIT:

Hmm, the description makes it sound like you're getting ten for that price but that might be the amount available.

I would suggest a message to check

An alternative is to use 1/4 oz US gold eagle tubes. They will take 43 sovereigns wth no spacers between the coins which is close to being 10oz of gold content

I think they look pretty cool. There are a variety of colours for the cap

What a brilliant idea! I never thought about using 1/4oz US Mint tubes to hold sovereigns!
