Just got some paperwork through from the LMO. I dont buy much or anything from them but they are advertising a 2016 sov with a 90th birthday effigy and a different reverse to the G& D design.2016 being produced, and the price is... £695.. any thoughts!!

IMO DO not buy from them!!!!

IMO it is best to stay with the Gov mints coins eg RM,CRM, Perth etc .  There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum, if i was you i would use it. Buy from bullion dealers or from this site at the best price for condition.

lol Thanks guys. I am sorry i didnt make myself fully clear- i have no intention of buying anything from them, as i dont like them. it says its a sovereign, but at 3x the price of the gold its not my thing. I was curious, as i was filing the papers in the bin if anyone would buy a "special edition" like this?

These people are a rip off. They call them sovereigns just because they are the same specifications as real ones, but they are just a private mint trying to sell premium priced "coins" to a gullible section of the public.

@sovereignsteve do you remember a welsh gold coin marketed as a welsh sovereign?

That's not an unattractive coin (medal)

Price is comical

yes the "Welsh Gold" sticks in my mind, what's the difference? I suppose a very rich, stupid and proud Welshman might go for it.

PS I am not suggesting Welsh people are stupid, in fact my maternal grandad was welsh:)
