Whats the best to buy long term?

I asked the same question in silver and gold may be the best option. I have about £500-700 to spend on silver or gold. I intend to keep it for a minimum of 10-20 years so what would be my best option to maximise my return?

Any advice would be great!

Here may be a good start as it is only 50p above spot price. Might be worth a lot more in 30 years. historical value and 50p above spot silver bullion. not a bad deal. only 12.78/Toz. The advantage also of often finding rarer ones gives a chance of individual re sale to knock off a few extra quids off the sale.

Best of luck on your stacking :)

PS looks like this guy has 2 lots up you could even barter him down with combined postage for a bigger lot.

So the budget's gone up to £700 now, eh?

er... hate to say this, but you're not really asking the right question.

What's your reason for buying, what are your expectations, and what's your risk reward profile?

Hey, yeah basically I have £500 but I can up it a little.

The purpose of buying silver and/or gold is because i don't trust the banks and don't want to place all my eggs in one basket. I do have some money in other types of savings but I would like some physical precious metals that I can potentially sell when I retire (in like 40 years) or give to my kids. The risks for me are minimal as its not a huge amount but based on looking at the last few years it seems the best time to buy. I do intend to top up every few months but while the prices are good I want to kick off my collection.

Only thing on ebay you need to watch out for is fakes. Pre 1947s and especially pre 1920s are incredibly hard to fake

you in the same boat as me, if you are not looking to spend that much, its best to go for quantity and not quality. Unless you are certain the coins will go up in value, it is all about mintage etc. Closest to spot is your main goal

Managed to get these in a a pre 1920s lot and are in pristine condition. (Unless they are polished) for £10 an ounce, you just need patience and a good eye to strike a deal. Never been scammed. I had suspicions once because the bars were 37 quid each on 100g bars.

Gold sovereigns. Next question...:)
