Don't you have to use a fully tracked service i.e. special delivery to be able to claim for cash/coins/jewelry from the PO.

What did Ebay say to you when you provided the posting confirmation?

@Murph Ebay and Paypal have both rejected the claim since the seller didn't receive the returned item.

At one point Ebay said 'they want to make sellers responsible by receiving returned items'.  So why does it feel like I'm responsible as the buyer that I have to go to the post office and pay for return delivery.

Proof of sending the item wasn't enough (they wanted to see the item was signed for).

I'm waiting for Royal Mail to respond to the claim but I'm not holding my breath.

Signed for and stuck on 'being processed through our network' since the start of May.

If the seller knows it's a fake and not worth anything, why don't they just refund you, why did they need it back :s

Defo a scummy seller

I hope nobody here just bought this.

No coin but a coin is pictured.  Naughty.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999-Full-Gold-Proof-Sovereign-Box-COA-Mint-/112059171629?hash=item1a173f432d:g:SPcAAOSwXeJXdRNS

If anyone buys this thinking they are buying a gold coin then they only have themselves to blame. There is no mention of a coin in the title. The description clearly says that only the box is for sale and no coin is included. And the price is clearly low enough to indicate no coin.

Yes it's a bit naughty including a pic of a couple in the box but I have zero sympathy for anyone not reading the description properly

Well what do you all think of this baloney?

I bought an old crown from ebay.  The picture was dodgy and I knew there would be a chance it was fake but I thought I'll have a go due to the ebay buyer protection and the seller had 100% feedback.

The coin arrives and it's fake.  I emailed the seller who apologises that it wasn't listed correctly as a replica and admits it is a fake.

The seller asks me to return it to which I agree for some reason.

Royal Mail loses the item in the post and ebay find in favour of the seller.

I've replied to eBay's messages telling them that the seller admitted it was a counterfeit and that it's worth nowhere near the £30ish I paid for it.  Since ebay is flooded with fakes how can I buy from there again?

I've now opened the case with paypal and I'll give the seller a chance to reply before I try to give them negative feedback. However, I seem to remember that you can't leave feedback on an item when it has had a case.

Got a result from Royal Mail who paid compensation.  The end of the saga.

I thought eBay's T&C's on postage & packaging fees now are that the price has to be reasonable.  This because it was used in a way to scam buyers who wanted to return the goods for a refund; and that refund did not have to include the P&P fee under the eBay rules.  I also think a few years back the eBay fees were based on the sale price not including P&P, so hiking the value onto the P&P part of the listing was a way to avoid the eBay fees.

An account with only a 3 feedback of which 71.4% is positive, unused for months, and now flogging a service of £30 to get the goddards out for two minutes and flogging tons of electrical goods, watches, cameras and jewelery, and all pictures lifted from stock photos on other websites.

Methinks, there will be a few more negative comments appearing before ebay eventually shut this account down.
