fakes getting better

apart from the obvious it's too thick to fit into correct sized capsules,

the visual likeness is crazy. (he made a mistake at 2.32, the thickness

should be 2.8mm making the coin too thick, not too thin. this makes

sense as copper is less dense than silver so needs the extra volume

to make coin weigh the correct 1oz)

Wait I am confused, you say it should be 2.8mm? Do you mean 2.08mm?

it's going to get messy in a few years time when dealers

are out of stock and you mostly only have photos on ebay

to work with.

HH

Indeed, but you would of thought they would wait a couple years to bother faking something for this reason.

Well spotted

It should have a S or M mint mark shouldn't it as none were minted in London that year

Maybe just a case of using the wrong picture? or if it's a pic of the actual coin then it must be a fake right?

I'm too much of a noob to be able to tell if it's fake just from judging the details in the picture.

are both of those obverse 't' asymmetrical down the middle?

(the right side of each 't' is longer than the left)

I'm just wondering if both obverse and reverse are pictures of the

same coin?

HH

You're right.

There are actually 3 different versions of "R" on the obverse. I've never noticed that on a sov before.

It could be two different coins and just one with a funny obverse.

Talking of fakes, what do you guys think about these "loft finds"

I don't know about the other coins, but the sovereign looks comical

no returns or refunds should have been enough to move

people along.
