Modern Royal Mint coins that have made money

Just thinking about modern coins from the royal mint and their pretty outrageous premiums, what modern coins are there (last 10 years or so) that you would of actually made money on had you bought direct?

The only thing that really comes to mind is the 5oz 2014 proof silver Britannia

^ Maybe you might make a little on the 1 oz and sets too

Are there any other coins where you really would of made a profit?

possibly the 2002 and 2005 proof sovs. I don't know what the issue prices were but they sell well. The 2012 sells better but the issue price was more than £500 IIRC.

Going back a bit further, the 1989 would certainly have made you good money.

Haven't got the figures to hand now, but I remember working out the cost of the coin back then and adjusting for the pound devaluing, the £900 ish price for the 1989 was about what you paid in 1989

So buying them was better than having money in the bank but you didn't really make a profit, just kept their value

I'm sure you're right but you didn't say it had to be inflation-adjusted! If you looked at the increase in price of most collectable or semi-numismatic coins, you would probably find the same. It probably isn't really worth keeping coins on the off chance of selling at a profit at some point in the future.
