Interest in Air-tite capsules

Recommended Posts

Hi gang, it has been brought to my attention that many on the forum would like air-tites to be available. So I will look into ordering some and have a listing put up so you can buy anytime you like.

I'm looking to buy 39mm, 40mm and 41mm capsules as a must. Would this cover all those interested or would you like other sizes too?

I will look to place an order for some early next week, so you have till then to decide if you might need others.

Yeah, I will only go for the genuine air-tites capsules. Only found the lighthouse air-tites so far, so looks like Europe. I think if I have to order from US direct, it could make them expensive. But I will run cost by everyone here to see if its worth it. I'm happy to do it as long as there is a need. :)

Saw a post elsewhere with video suggesting an alternative capsule by Schultz.

Available through Amazon.

If these are comparable to GENUINE Airtites then there is a bulk supplier alibaba.com ( but no experience to recommend ).

Might be significantly cheaper ?

If it's on alibaba then they are probably not likely to be the original capsules. Chinese copy everything, so be careful.

Klacey, I would be up for purchasing some air-tites from you if they are direct fit and the ones with smooth edges. I don't want to buy any with rims on.

Maybe air-tite can sell you some at their wholesale prices.

There are also these Schultz capsules, though Danny said he had some Schultz ones that had rims. So maybe they produced ones with rims and not smooth edges at some point.

Also have to be careful as there are probably a lot of copied capsules in the market that originated from China. So I would recommended buying direct from the actual company.

I am not sure what sizes I would need, I have a few mixed single coins that I would like to put in capsules. Including a few Canadian coins (wildlife series, maples and a falcon), a couple for ASE's, a libertad, a Britannia. And maybe some other random coins that I can't think of right now.

I wouldn't buy anything from Alibaba, they don't understand law (a bit like eBay)

Ditto that Danny f--k Alibaba the biggest seller of fake coins that I have seen, makes my blood boil that these scammers are devaluing our hobby/collecting.

The problem with common sense is, its not that common.

Right, I'll sort my numbers out now.

Price dependant though.

If they are cheap, I'll replace all my lipped capsules with smooth.

If they are expensive, I'll only swap a few.

I'll get numbers now.

So are you going for the original air-tite capsules then Klacey? If so, I will have a look on the air-tite site later and work out what size capsules are for what coins.

Then I will know what capsules I will need and how many.

Watch out for shipping costs - volumetric even though the box will be negligible real weight.

I will look out for your resale prices for direct fits H38, H39 and H40.6 if you stock them.

KL is an experienced international buyer, so I reckon he'll be all good.

Look forward to prices bud.

If they are cheap, I'll be up for about 70 x 40mm and about 20 x 41mm.

If they are expensive, about 20 of each.

Now I guess would be a good time to add the odd sizes for any coins your wish to encapsulate that otherwise ordering from Airtites might have been prohibitive.

Anyone know if there is a list anywhere of which air-tites are for which coins?

Specifically which size is best for these coins:

Maples

Canadian wildlife series

Canadian Birds of prey

Britannia's

UK lunar horse

ASE's

Libertads

Ok. Here is the answer, well half the answer :)

Maples - H38 (H38 is 3.17mm deep, cap may not close completely but fit is acceptable) <<< This doesn't sound good. I don't really like acceptable, I like perfect!

Canadian wildlife series H38

Canadian Birds of prey H38

Britannia's H39 (says 2013 only, but does that mean 2013 onwards?)

UK lunar horse H39? I am guessing

ASE's H40.6

Libertads H40.6
