My view is this.

HGM, anybody can buy instantly. You do your homework, you put the effort in to check every 30 seconds, you reap the rewards.

eBay BIN's, same as above.

eBay auctions are different, and it's not right to link them. I spend a lot of time searching on eBay, to find the auctions, which are sometimes not so easily found. When somebody links up here (depending on the item), it's game over for bargains.

Notwithstanding the size and audience of eBay, posting on here does make a difference in some cases.

Like SS said, lazy people can just drop some bids on without the legwork.

Put it this way, if you were bidding on a rare silver coin on eBay, would you post it up on a forum full of people that buy silver coins? Of course not.

Stacker since 2013

Have to agree with Danny here. As far as I'm concerned if I spot a BIN or something for sale on a website that i'm not interested in, then posting it here just seems to be the right thing to do. But with auctions its a different game. I wouldn't post any auctions here if I thought it would jack up the price by increasing the numbers of interested parties. I would be very pissed off if I'd found an auction, off the beaten track, so to speak, with a good chance of getting a bargain, only for it to appear on here just before the auction ended and the price rocketed.

Both eBay and HGM have their own substantial traffic. Stuff on HGM for example sells really quickly anyway, linking to deals here is only beneficial to all. If a member here doesn't buy the item would be sold to a non-forum member pretty quickly anyway. And I am sure you would have / will get some benefits of something being listed here.

Kman is already aware the moment something new goes onto HGM because of his software.

If everyone knew the moment something went on HGM site, then everyone is on an equal foot as all information is immediately available. And the person/people who manage to buy the particular item(s) will be because of how quickly they check here, or how quick their typing and order skills are ;)

If you were subscribed to this topic as well as checking HGM every 10mins. Then as long as you acted quick enough you would have purchased what you were after.

But I wouldn't be so annoyed as you if I missed something, there are always other deals to be had.

Don't get me wrong Chris, I have no axe to grind about HGM deals. I'm only interested in sovereigns and I get as many as I want (need?) without any problems. KM doesn't do anything to upset me.

The ebay auction thing just got me thinking and being who I am and in the mood to stir things up a little, I said what I said to see what other folk thought and get some discussion.

Having said that, I'm a firm believer that if someone puts in the effort, they deserve to reap the rewards, so I'm firmly against people posting details of auctions.

My only slight worry with HGM is that if they sell things too quickly and people are obviously fighting each other to get the deals, they may wise up and start adjusting their business model to get more for their numismatic/rare/unusual items, to eveyone here's detriment.

I certainly don't want to pay more for the less run of the mill sovereigns that I sometimes get.

Also if people start hassling them by returning coins and start getting too picky but that discussion has been had before.

I have no idea how many non-members/guests (?lurkers) read this forum and how much they benefit from the helpful atmosphere and "camaraderie" that exists among the core users. Perhaps these "post a deal" threads should only be in the private area?

@sovereignsteve discussion regards to HGM increasing their prices due to demand from the forum etc has been discussed in another topic before. In my opinion they are already selling a lot of coins below fair market value, so only a matter of time before they realise. 2006 sealed Panda they were selling for 3% over spot a while ago, I think the price was around £850. When Ampex has the same coin for £1k.

I understand their business model, but if it was me I would have split their business into 2 departments. Some stock being sold at a higher premium, but non damaged coins. And some just being sold as bullion. Would keep both collectors and stackers happy and they would make them more profit. (Though you could argue that stackers would be slightly less happy as they would get a few less coins to purchase)

Anyhow I don't want this topic to go off topic. This is the "Silver deals..." topic after all.

So please feel free to start a new thread if anyone wishes to continue to discuss. So we can keep this topic on topic. :)

Im going to call too good to be true on that one. If they really wanted quick money they would be able to get more money faster by taking to any dealer or coinshop/jewellers.  with postage and ebay/paypal fees they would be lucky to clear £6 each.

Somethings fishy.

They've been withdrawn now. I didn't like that it was only a drawing of the bars too.

That said they do have something in their other items that may interest @Fluttershy
