Hi all,

ive been offered a 2017 London mint office quarter sov, just wondering what a good price might be? I understand London mint office stuff is less desirable and in demand?

any input would  welcome...

Thanks, NB

Personally, spot plus 3% max (preferably lower!)

But I am not a fan of London mint products ?

Doesn’t seem that many people are! Thanks for the feedback, that’s kind of what I’m thinking.

I have never seen so many negative reviews for a company. Beware!

Totally agreed but he has the coin in hand. So it won’t be through the LMO. Just tempting for 60 quid, but I’m just not sure it’d ever make its money back...

They cater to the causul coin collectors who see a full page advert in the newspaper and think that a sovereign for £400 is a good idea. The thing is they are not proofs, they are not actual sovereigns and therefore have no serious collectors market.

I read an article on a news website about a chap who had bought about £40,000 of London mint gold and silver over a 10 year period and when his coins were valued it was melt value and about half!

It is gold, so one day it would make money for you, but only as spot value.

BYB, is there a good link for all carat gold prices? Just struggling to find an actual spot for 22ct. Sorry if this is an obvious question!

Divide the carrat number by 24, then you have a percentage of gold content and can work out how many grams of gold there are.

Multiply that by spot price per gram

I suppose at the end of the day it's your choice.

The forum charts give you the 22 carat Gold price.
