Alright alright, it’s a fake. I bought it online just for kicks and it kinda surprised me how close to a real crown it looks, to me at least. If making fakes is this easy, I can just imagine how many of these are in people’s collections, especially novices such as myself.

I recently bought a set of four from eBay - all were very good modern Chinese counterfeits - I eventually got my refund, but the only give away was the sound. The design, aging and weight were all frighteningly good, but they didn’t sound like the real thing.
