valuation of sovereigns

Hello there.

A sovereign is legal tender but has no denomination minted on it, is it valued on the spot price at any given time?

It has a nominal value of one pound sterling. As you say, legal tender.

so if we have to declare when travelling as each soverign has a nominal value of £1 if I was to take 5 through to an airport I would declare it as £5 is that correct?

Surely if you were travelling from the UK internationally you would have to declare the sovereigns as sovereigns and not just as £5 worth of currency?

loool, went on google got a few mixed reviews. If carrying under 10k it should be simple and straight forward anything over 10K of Euros is really going to down to the individuals luck and the boarder control guys. 

Im falling under the 10k bracket so not much to fear atm.

If you own it you can class it as Legal Tender at £1 per coin.

It might be different if you are a Dealer though?
