Bullion by post are not always bad....if you you know who to ask, and ask nicely, You can buy really good quality coins..C00BD97A-15BB-4FD2-920C-0AF8EEDB9F37.thumb.jpeg.31a9d6e07bcfdc2b0633604871af8556.jpeg

I bought this and lots more of similar quality last week for 5% less than what other ‘preferred’ dealers are charging. I admit they are really expensive on lots of things, but they do have a massive turnover of stock compared to most other dealers, so they do quite often have coins you might want..

That is a very nice coin, 20 franc angel? My point using BBP as the reference was to emphasis that I have bought silver including VAT and high premium and many others will be doing so too - 'the market' in the UK is doing this on a daily basis, so selling older bullion silver at a premium on ebay should be seen in a similar light, as an offer to treat in the same market, and perhaps not viewed as exploiting fools. Plenty of collectors are willing to pay more for older coins I would treat as bullion and who am I to say they are wrong to do so.

I completely concur with your statement...But unfortunately, new PM collectors, myself included,  have to experience the learning curve, and they are unlikely to discover this forum and the knowledge contained within it in good time. It has taken me three years, to my detriment. But that is life...

As to ebay and fools...one mans loss is another mans gain, keep selling to them. The knowledge you have accrued has taken time, and cost much, so you deserve to be rewarded in some way..

I bought a proof gold Britannia from them once, rang up and asked if they could do a better price, ended up taking £20 off I think, can't knock them.
