Is there a spitfire forum ? I bet theyll help you out

Cheers bud, had a look at those but they seem a bit 'closed shop' and 'specialist (aka 'experts only' - perhaps - ?). Certainly a route to look at/try out though :)

I would have been the man for the job 20 years ago, I had a mark IV spitfire, put in a new engine/gearbox and diff.

Too many aches and pains these days to lay under cars.

Spot on.

I used to do stuff like that 30 - 35 yrs ago. Built up my mk3 cortina from a new bare body shell and a scrap car.

Did have a Triumph Dolomite Sprint at one point; twin inch and three quarter SU's. Sounded lovely and could certainly put you back in your seat if you floored it.

Funny how these threads develop isn't it:P

Now you've done it....I opened up the hard drives!

Always wanted a Dolly Sprint. Classy motor...manual overdrive!

the wife says she's still got hers; first car and been locked up in a garage at her dad's for the last 30 years. Never seen it myself, keep meaning to check out it's condition; one careful lady owner!!!:P

My mate at Uni used to have one in the mid-70's. There were 5 of us shoe-horned in on pub crawls around south Manchester and down into the Derbyshire Peaks. Happy days:)
