They sell steadily on ebay for the premium you mention. IIRC I didn't buy my first ones straight away on issue but did have to pay a reasonable premium when I did buy. From Chards I think, so they must have been the cheapest I could get at the time.

Their popularity does seem to vary on ebay, sometimes they do surprise me with the price some sell at.

I think I paid £230 for my first ones and at that time, they were regularly selling for £275+ on ebay.

Paid £203 for mine 28/10/15 from a respected forum member.

I only have 1, it doesn't appeal at all. The Proof however...I was lucky, also around that time.

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

You should keep it though, the alternative designs are always sought after.

I didn't like the 2005 design but now it's really grown on me. Mintages are nice and low too.

Got mine brand new from Atkinsons May 2012.
Taking the ratio of spot today to when I purchased I effectively paid £235 at today's prices including SD postage.
I actually paid more but spot was £1,042 back then.
