Yesterday I received a 1oz Silver Forum bar from BYB @171  @BackyardBullion

It's ace. From conception to birth :)

However....

I'm out of the UK for a while, so I had it sent to an old mechanic friend in the West Country.

I Viber'd him and asked him to check the serial number.

'Hey J**, can you look at the bar and tell me the serial number please?'

'Alright my bird, I'll be with e dreckly...'

And today,

China 2017 - The 70th Anniversary of the Founding of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region 30g Coin.  Quite a bit more expensive than usual which I think is down to the mintage of 20k instead of the usual 50/60k.  Really want the 8g gold coin as well but it's a little too much.

China 2017 - World Heritage - Temple & Cemetery of Confucius & The Kong Family Mansion in Qufu 30g coin.  Issue with a dot on the coin.  Looks like a impurity within the silver.  Contacted Chinese dealer to have it exchanged.  Let's see how they deal with it.

A brief respite from the 2017 Sovereign fun today: back to some plain new silver.

I know - for the purists a silver "round" is an unspeakable thing, but I absolutely love these 2015 Scottsdale 1 ounce rounds - with the date and the lion showing up when you tilt them. Sticking with Scottsdale - added another four of their 100g bars to the stack (I like the size and style of these).  Then another 1 ounce 2014 Mexican Libertad proof: always grab these from 2014 if I see them, as it's a rarer year, although the 1 ounce was most abundant at 4,700 mintage.

Then a couple of NGC boxes - need some nice MS70s to pop in them now.. ?

And -- after quite a nervous wait for the international post to deliver, the PCGS MS65 1893 Morgan dollar finally showed up. I am certainly impressed with the Eagle side - as it's very nice in the fields and on the breast feathers, so worthy of a high grade. The obverse is pretty good as well (better than the rest of my ungraded Morgans) but I have to say there are still a few nicks on it. If it wasn't in a slab saying MS65 I probably have not guessed that grade ...so I am learning! Everything checks out on the PCGS website - so its for real...so I am the proud owner of a pretty rare Morgan (this is the third rarest year for the Philadelphia mint, excluding 1895) in a high grade.  Just don't ask me to send it into NGC though...as I worry they would not grade it a 65!

I hope this is a case of buying the coin, and not the slab.  That isn't Mint State anything, and I would be fairly urgently calling PCGS for additional verification that you haven't just bought a fake slab.

That coin would struggle to reach XF40 on the obverse.

Seriously, I don't mean to be dismissive, but you need to call PCGS and make urgent enquiries.

Below is a true MS65 Obverse... the difference is vast.  Compare with the XF40...

My money is that the slab is genuine, but that it's been tampered with and another coin has replaced the original coin.

Have you posted it on CoinTalk?  Those guys are unbelievably knowledgable and very friendly.

I don't even think the slab is genuine, there is no way to open and replace the coin in a pcgs slab without damaging the slab.

I think someone got the correct pcgs number and grade and then put this monstrosity together.

I hope @Lindemanyou are able to get your money back.

I'd have to agree, the slab in question doesn't have the little feet that help the slabs stack together on the corners. (Interlock)

And this is another reason why I like NGC over PCGS, there is no photo of the graded coin on PCGS website for comparison, which NGC does...

Ask for a refund, or file a claim with PayPal as you have been screwed over.

Sorry buddy.

Also the paper on the obverse doesn't have the fade from blue to white and the coin might be fake as well. The obverse is 5-6 grades lower than the reverse. You usually never see this, normally even wear front/back...
