I mean, the detail looks very good but when you're that old you could do with some less detail..

The art of them on horses is boring and cartoonish

The coin with the shields is also dull

I think it is a bit rude to put PS after the old fella’s name.....I mean I know his missus took centre stage all the time but no need to rub it in

p.s yes I know princeps is a word....

dear me, if you compare this design with the superb artistry of the one brought out when Philip retired, and done by a ‘proper’ artist, there is no comparison. This wedding one is tatty. If this had been presented as an offering in such a design style of my parents, I would have returned it.

When I got the email from Westminster Collection this morning It looked like the same old crap they try to flog from British territories. Safe to say I was a bit shocked when I found it on the Royal Mint website as well.

Yes Kman, agreed. No-one wants to be reminded they're old.

Philip was very handsome in his youth and Liz is beautiful.

Churchill burnt his 80th Portrait. It wasn't how he wanted to be remembered.

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

"There is no such thing as public money, there is only taxpayers' money"

Let not England forget her precedence of teaching nations how to live.

I really like the first Queens portrait

Should just have kept this one for her reign :D

THIS...1,000 times this.  Beautiful first portrait...second was really nice as well.  TBH, she still has a great smile.  I sure don't want to think about what I'll look like when (check that, if) I get that old.

Interesting that they are doing a quarter oz platinum coin but not a quarter oz gold coin (if this is the complete range).

Only 1,275 of the quarter oz being made :  http://www.royalmint.com/shop/u/uk17pwqp

The obverse portrait is interesting :

Face value of £500 !?
