This design for the "dog" is absolute trash...

if you can afford to wait 30 years for when a 1/10 oz of gold is worth £200 in spot then it might be a good buy!

I like it!

Love terriers too :)

People were happy to pay £525 for a BU sov @ 7.32g :P

ps I hope a 1/10 will be worth much more than £200 in 30 years time...or I'm screwed!

edit 2: Now that I've seen better pics... :o

i am new to coin collecting , but trying to build a small gold collection .just seen the lunar dog coin 1/10th at £ 175 which seems pricey for a BU coin what do you think ?

I think you should take the 1/10 Perth Mint Lunar Dog if you want to go for such type of coin. Will be a much safer bet even with the high(er) premium.

Also i don't think the Royal Mint Lunar is that popular to be honest... The Perth Mint Lunar series on the other hand are...

Hmm agreed it is rather ropy to say the least. It looks like some creature possessed.

I did though about these 1:10 but the problem is their quality are that bad , 16.5 mm

yes their mintage are the lowest compare to other years that's the only selling point

In my opinion, we're going to need to take our scrutiny/evaluation of new offerings to the next level. It seems Mints around the world, both governmental and private, have really caught on to collectors' hard-ons for low mintage coins and a lot of new coins, not all but a lot, are low mintage even if they're ugly as homemade sin. Just my low pop $0.02...

Why is their such a fixation on spot? It is not the be all and end all, you can even sell for more than spot on here and people want something for nothing...

If you looking for 1/10th gold coins, the kangaroos are really good looking coins in my opinion. The design changes each year as well so you could build up a collection of them.

I think this series is very underrated. I have seen a trend of prices going up on these.

LOL, nay! That dog looks cracked out. Maybe that's the 2017 Proof Britannia's dog  All joking aside, I'm not sure what look they were going for.

I see the 1oz silver proof is down in mintage, all the others were 8,888 and this one is now 5,008, not the best selling series possibly?, I have two of everything so far so I'm probably going to have to stick with it but I feel the Queens Beast series has eclipsed it.  I've seen a few of the first Lunar Horse selling for decent mark up on Ebay so there might be hope yet.

I don't mind the dog, looks a wee happy yappy but the fur design is odd.
