Do you stamp by hand or do you use a press?

By hand, there is a video earlier in this thread of me stamping one!

The ripples on the 108g bar were really nice. Good work ?

Thanks my friend - sadly it got melted down after I finished filming. I had others come out at 102 grams - as much as I like to give free silver away....I have a business to run!

@BackyardBullion

sorry if I'm being stupid but is there any reason why you don't just put exactly 100g or maybe 100.5g or whatever the optimum would be, of silver directly into your melting crucible and pour the whole lot straight in to your mould?

Not a silly question.

When you use a crucible like this you degrade the graphite which ends up settling on the silver. It comes out last from the pouring so if I were to put 100g into the crucible and pour it out I get a bunch of "pollution" on the bar and I would then have to clean it off.

Cleaning it off is a right pig of a task and it also often makes it look very unsightly. Or you have to use sandpaper to get it clean and that means no nice ripples.

So I pour free hand to get a clean and beautiful pour which looks a lot better.
