Hello everybody !

Two years ago, I did not really know what a gold or silver coin mean. In fact it did mean nothing for me and I did not even touched one or care  !  Economic situation deterioration started to make me feel that something went wrong in our digitalized and virtual world  so the urge to get tangible assets such as PM was growing on me. My first aim was/is to get weight close to spot, balanced between gold and silver (2/3; 1/3 respectively).  I stacked  first Napoleon and Rooster 20 francs, silver Hercules 10 and 50 francs. But my curiosity lead me to discover pre 33 gold eagles , Liberty... but also lovely modern coins such as Lunar series, Kangaroos, kooks etc...I started to look Youtube  videos, and then discovered this forum and of course these beautiful  British coins..."The sovereigns". Then I fell something else than just investing in PM ...behind a coin there is a story and History and that's exciting. And by touching them, we can feel and let travelling our imagination. For the anecdot, I bought from an old french man a beautiful 1924 St Gaudens, ;this coin came from his sister who died earlier. He told me that she met and fall in love with an US soldier in 1944 who landed on the Normandy beaches. He always had this coin with him as a lucky charm and  it seems that it gave him luck and happiness : he gave it to her  In testimony of his love and  the story ends well and  they got married after the war.

So I am now a little bit hooked to say the less !  There is a lot of  affective in collecting coins and I like that.  However, I try to not forget my first goal (not easy  sometimes !) : investing to preserve wealth, and being liquid. Not so easy to be always wise but I try, and I found this forum and his community very informative and exciting ...So I am here to share with you :)

Hello and welcome ?.  I love the history side of coin too.  You can't beat holding an old coin in your hand and wondering where it came from and what it's been used for.

I'm not too fussed on American coins. I prefer sovereigns and really like 20 franc coins among others. But I can't get my hands on an anxi 20 franc anywhere over here!!

There are some extortionate prices on eBay but they are few and far between.  I don't suppose you know how much I should be looking at spending on 1? I have looked on French coin sellers websites but I don't read French so I'm screwed really haha.

Thanks in advance ?
