I doubt the jewellery you are buying are US made. I'd like to see a picture of the 14k stamp.
If it is not accompanied by the name or the U.S. registered trademark (name, a symbol or initials) of the jeweller or another company that assumes responsibility is carved near the karat quality mark, it is not US made.
I suppose there are made in Turkey, they are producing huge quantities of 14k gold jewellery at low prices and their regulations are requesting only the stamp with the purity of gold, nothing else.
I would suggest you to test any piece with 14k acid and to not pay more than spot + 5% - max 10%.
If you will want to sell them in the future, you will sell them maximum at spot.

The US hallmarking is woeful.
The cash for gold places would probably have to acid test it before accepting it.
Just be careful when buying US marked gold as sometimes it can appear to be solid 14K but can actually be 14K gold filled.
Although the following is about watch cases, it gives a good insight into what you don't want to see - anything with 20 years guarantee is NOT solid gold.
