Say you invest £20,000 today. How are you going to sell. What price you are going to sell at. How long is your investment timeline. That is just to start. Lots to consider before buying anything imo. If you have figured this out already I apologise. We can't tell you what to do with your money, but..
What would I do with 20k? I would probably go all in at the top, and then watch the silver price crash to $2 an ounce for the next decade at least 

I don’t understand why Brexit would effect the gold price?  Gold is a worldwide commodity, traded in 3/4 of the world who couldn’t give a damn about the outcome of Brexit.  As mentioned before, it’s the value of the Pound that’s at risk.  Surely gold is a good hedge against that?
Or am I way off the mark?

That reminds me of a delivery by Yodel we had at work this week.  It was a box of printer paper and the outside box was completely torn open at one end - literally the whole end of the box was flapping loose and you could see the contents.  I could see the paper inside looked ok on that edge (and it was only printer paper!) but I still wrote a note on the PDA when I signed that said "box damaged" just in case.  The Yodel driver took great offence to this and said "Its not damaged, its just open slightly"   That is just one example why we don't use Yodel to deliver anything!
