That is not how it works.  The manufacturer can claim back the VAT for goods and services they buy.  Only the end consumer pays the VAT.

Suggest that highlighting a tax avoidance loophole is not the best argument. Nor is making claims without evidence - do you know how much Royal Mint sells through Europe?  The case to make is the simple one on legal tender and secondly that silver bullion should be treated same as gold or other investments, and made exempt from VAT.

The option in the first section is to use the IOSS one stop shop instead of registration in each country importing to (may be favourable VAT in some countries...).  The option in the second section is to use the IOSS the customer will incur the custom agent fee, which we know is not a commercially sustainable for <€150.
End of day this rule was coming anyway and Brexit means HMRC has implemented earlier. The only difference is stated customs fee, which I expect will be in place for those that dont register in practice.

I bought quite a lot of Silver from the European Mint whilst living in Germany as postage prices were less making the deal worth it when buying over 200Euros worth. Great whilst it lasted!!
I think a lot of Europeans Mint's business comes from the UK which they will now loose out. I also doubt the EU will let import free VAT last for much longer anyway (in my opinion).
Does this not mean Silver prices will rise which is what everyone wants??
Or are people worried about making money on buying low, importing and selling at UK prices?

Well a week at most.  I've noted there has been nothing mentioned about VAT harmonisation, so i'm assuming there will be none.  I think we've been waiting for the deal to give new information, i'm coming to realisation its not going to and the current guidance was always going to be in place whatever the outcome.  Goods will be sold "ex"VAT and VAT applied on import. The best course of action will be to gently nudge MPs that removing VAT from investment silver would be a good idea.

The articles do not make that clear either way.  I fail to see the importance, Tommy Thompson was held in contempt of court for failing to produce the gold or its whereabouts.  Bottom line is, this case has nothing to do with the state, its private individuals in contract dispute.

That manifestly isnt the case, there is litigation from investors on how much was recovered and who owns what.

Reading further, it seems he was paid $12m to do the salvage work, found lots of gold but the investors were never paid back. So they sued to recover the gold or proceeds of their sale. They got some back but some gold is unaccounted for, so case against Thompson continues. He refuses to cooperate, putting him in contempt of court and in jail.

Signals their need to make profits increase from mortgages, if the stone rolls 9ntop of home owners this may be turned around with many rental and foreclosed hitting the market in the next three to six months.
