Atkinsons are very customer orientated (is that the right word? doesn't look right after a few), anyways I imagine they will rectify the problem after the holidays, in mean time, get it out of the capsule and have a play like a poker chip

Technically it's "oriented" (yes I'm a pedant) but if the word communicates your intent then what's the problem?

    Crikey!
If you bought pre-owned without a premium then you get what you get but no way should that have been sent out labelled as 'New'. They should refund your postage costs back to them too IMO. They have an excellent reputation, i'm sure they'll sort it.

"only dealer i see" not saying the only dealer that does, and i was using the 1kg as reference as mo let some go for £440 recently, not seen any kilos this cheap. I think mo has the best prices hands down.

it is hard because people don't like to lower there prices when the market price lowers, for obvious reasons, but soon as there is a slight increase, buyers will see the increase immediately, only dealer I see lower prices with the market price is mo, all other dealers I see keep there price the same even if £2-3 per oz lower but then increase when it is up 50p,

As a curiosity piece, if you can verify it was plated during the period it would be worth more than if it was plated much later. I think.
It would be good if there was a way to remove the plating without damage

Its nice looking, not sure what it would be worth, in my limited experience of buying a few 1787 shillings; gilded coins even in very good condition sell for less than a top notch mint state coin. Its nice looking coin that though mate, looks like my fake 1887 £5 before I had it melted down

The crown is a seriously sized piece of metal. Could possibly pass a gold plated one off for a £5 sovereign?
There were plenty of 1887 £5 coins minted but it's doubtful any were used as currency. Most people would never have seen one so I suppose it's possible.........
