Not posted here before.  Received today, bought impulsively (because of the price) on New Years Eve on eBay when auction ended, presumably when everybody was in the Pub as I paid much, much less than scrap value!  Birmingham 1986, Padgett and Braham its a mighty fine Silver cigar box 8 1/4 x 5 3/8 x 2 1/2 inches in height, cedar wood lined and weighs a hefty 1155 grams.  Love the motif on the lid.  I estimate that this will weigh well in excess of 600 gram of .925 silver minus the cedar wood lining.  Better still, its of quality manufacture and I can't wait to fill it up with bullion.

Not today, but recently...I added more to make 1 kilo of BYB's 100g Silver Forum bars!  They actually fit perfectly in this APMEX box, which will hopefully also contain 2018 bars this coming year ?

Hmmmm, controversial opinion there. I mean, it's like Darth Vader, nobody ever mentions how many jobs the Death Star created...

Ok, relax. Nobody's  financing a hostile weapons program or propping up a regime. We are talking about some damn coins from NK. This is not like " buying the ISIS coinage". That's just ridiculous. These are coins already out of NK on the secondary market. If the idea is what bothers you then it's an issue that you alone have to work out. As @oliversw5 already stated, he did not purchase ANY gold coins. The US was looking into NK laundering millions of dollars and thus the sanctions. Collecting a dozen coins does not qualify as money laundering friend. Also I hate discussing politics where I enjoy my hobbies, but here goes, I hate Kim Jung Un. With that said, we were talking about coins.

    Dad's here, scarper lads!
Selling a brass coin will finance their Lego nerf-missile launcher.
Presumably the coins are already out of state hands and are now secondary market, being resold and resold. There's no tithe being kicked back to NK. But you could argue that if Oliver's mate shifted all this stock to forum members, then it might create a demand vacuum or precedent for more to be minted and 'accidentally' allowed to leave the DPRK again. So, point taken.

Anyone interested in buying one of these??  Interesting because I'm not quite sure who would even be able to buy one.  I don't think they can be exported to any coin collectors that might be interested and I also don't imagine there is a huge domestic market.  Probably end up being a rare antiquity one day for anyone that can get one.

Irish silver seems hard to come by, but I manage to snag some at or just over spot here and there:

Sadly some of them have the dreaded green gills, from being stored in ye olde pvc plastic flips or folders, I assume.
Anyone know a decent way to clean off the green? I don't especially care about causing a bit more wear on these coins as I'm not one for grading, but I'm hoping to learn a way to clean junk silver that doesn't leave it a blatant brushed-metal matte effect.
If anyone is selling 'scrap' Irish silver coinage, feel free to message me.

The problem is the physical gold must be repaid. The debt has been built up over the year as part of the gold price suppression. They don't have the physical gold but they must hand over 560 tonnes of physical gold. They have to go out and get it. They want to get it as cheaply as possible. If the gold price took off the losses would be huge.
They do not have physical gold to suppress the gold price these days, they use the paper markets. This is all they can do. They dump 100's of tonnes of paper contracts into the market to send the futures gold price down. This is how they do it along with lies and propaganda saying gold is done for. This does to some extent drop the wholesale physical price, but larger buys of gold are always at a premium. All the time the Chinese, Indian, Russians, Turks..... and buying up physical. There will come a point when the paper and physical markets diverge too much. Where the paper prices become irrelevant to what is going on with real gold. At some point there will be a reset in price. Price will gap up $100's if not $1000's b/c that is the true price the true market will set.

Relatively cheaper. It was only £700 an ounce just two years ago. £900 on December last year. I'm holding out for a lower mid-December price here too, but it's very tempting to start buying a few sovs here and there before then, in case political shenanigans throw a spanner in the plan

Not an expert but in my opinion these could be normal marks from circulation (pitting looks more like unsharp lunar craters, these marks are sharp). You should weigh and measure the coin. Some Chinese forgers age and wear coins artificially and some of the pitting here does look to pointed to be from other coins. Also the rim has some "mount marks" although in the wrong positions.
If you paid bullion prices and weight and measurements are correct, I wouldn't worry.
Some can even be factory made: mine has a belly button

Just received another 2 kilos of pre-'47 silver.
Sold as scrap for £350 Special-delivery included, from an ebay seller I was buying little bits from for a week at spot or less with free delivery.
So I said save yourself some hassle and list me a bulk buy. Even with the sudden drop in silver after purchase I came out pretty happy.
I almost can't lift the treasure chest of .500 silver coins now (thanks in part to nice deals from @MikeSol ). So I think it's time to move onto finding more Sterling, and venture into gold.
