For some reason I don't see Atkinsons on most of the 'compare' comparisons (?).
This is the link I have saved. I'm sure it varies but I found them cheapest last year at around 1.6% premium on pre-owned 1ozs, which is very good from a major dealer (could find cheaper on here or other groups, but do your due diligence on the seller ofc).

@Cubic with your intention of a regular purchase I would speak to a few before you buy too much, and make sure you have a super helpful account manager/contact in place

The problem with privy marked kookaburras is there are literally hundreds of them.10- 15 years ago there was an Australian data base which had them all listed with mintage figures but it has since disappeared into the ether.
That was the main reason I didn’t collect them you would never know if you had them all.Within those hundreds of privy marks were specific sets for example European countries so you could complete that set they were 1oz specimen coins in a case, basically a bullion kook struck twice.
I had a few 2oz silver proof kooks with a privy mark & most of them I sold made no more (indeed usually less) than the standard proof coin. There are always exceptions as some collectors will know exactly what a specific coin is worth & if they need a rarish one they'll just buy it.

My advice to anyone starting collecting kooks is keep away from the privy versions IMHO it is just the Perth mint taking the pizz to get more money out of collectors. Something our own Royal Mint is adept at.
But as a collector if you particularly like a coin privy or no privy buy it.

Might be best to start your own thread with that question, as it will probably be lost on a completed sale. Clearly there are collectors out there who appreciate the rarity of this coin. Hope you find the information you’re looking for 🙏

    This ^^^^^^
1oz Krugerrands made sense in the 1970s when gold was relatively much cheaper, and it doesn't necessarily hurt to have some 1oz coins in your stack as long as you don't overpay for them, but . . .
You may have heard a term 'exit strategy'.  This is just a fancy way of saying 'how am I going to flog my gold if I need to raise some cash?'.  Broadly, there are two approaches to this:
Sell back to a dealer.  This will give you the lowest return, but is convenient.  In this case, larger items like 1 oz Brits or Krugerrands make some sense, as the spreads will be a bit lower overall.  Still, I suggest you still don't buy individual items bigger than 1 oz for various reasons, not the least of which being that RMSD only insures up to £2,500, and courier services that will insure bullion are significantly more expensive. Sell on the secondary market.  This will give you a better return, but you have to pay attention to the liquidity of the items - i.e., how easy are they to sell.  In this case, smaller items like sovereigns or 1/4oz coins are much easier to shift than 1oz coins as there are far more people who can afford one or two sovs than can afford £1,600+ for a 1oz coin.  I've seen folks rock up here with 50 or 100 sovs and flog them all in days or even hours.  The market is a bit slow at the moment, but people will still buy sovereigns. I suggest you do a bit of homework about this and then work out what you want to buy.  If you get into sovs, you will likely want to do a little bit of homework about their numismatics as there are a few gotchas.  What I will say is that I have a type 2 exit strategy and I haven't bought anything bigger than 1/4 oz or so yet.  I may get a few 1oz coins, but it will likely only be a small minority of my stack.

    Hi there
Just checked Goldsilverbe and some of the 1/10 coins which I used to purchase are so expensive now. How come?

Lunar 1/10s and Kangaroos premiums are huge. Generic bullion is better, but previously most of these coins were a lot cheaper (premium) to buy.

The 2020 edition of Spink will suffice in terms of information- the latest edition will provide a more up to date price guide- prices have jumped exponentially since 2020- and you can take with a pinch of salt price guides when it comes to the higher grade examples!
Auction sites such as Noonans, London Coins, Spink, Hosker Haynes, Baldwins etc. etc are also great resources as well as specialist online dealers.

Not all Kooks are equal - the earlier ones and low mintage proofs sell for a decent premium - as do Privy issues.
My Favourites however are the high definition Kooks.

This is a great time to hoover up good quality, recent proofs at not much more than bullion.
What more needs to be said except you have to have the cash of course!

I love the Perth Mint coins however the designs can be hit and miss. As far as silver bullion quality is concerned - I have always been happy with them and they are most impressive to look at.
I personally love the 10oz Kookaburra coins. Weighty, chunky and slightly different size to the RM 10oz coins. Much much nicer finish too IMO.

I think asking on forums is a perfectly valid way of doing research, it is why it’s called a forum
If someone else has already got the information the OP wants, or even just an opinion like mine, sharing it not only saves the OP time but anyone else who has a SOTD at grading and sees the post.  I also think active discussions like this encourage traffic to the site from google searches and potentially bring in new members.  If that search shows members being dismissive it will have the opposite effect.
