Lots of inexperienced people bring out that old chestnut, silver is silver.

more experienced collectors who know the truth about Numasmatic silver would strongly disagree.

its the experienced collectors that are interested in rare highly collectable very sort after silver strikes for the long term.

If if you think silver is silver then just stack bulk silver at spot, the other option is to go for the premium silver which is the option I'm interested in for the long term.

Today we call it freedom of speech and applies to pretty much everything.  Unless of course you live in a country where freedom of speech doesn't apply in which case you could still end up killed or incarcerated.

In terms of bullion i thought it would be, especially so those coins minted are not from private mints. I'm not sure you see nano mintages from those mints unless you are talking about 10kg coins in silver or gold. Private mints are an entity to themselves, individual country mints also have to make money and have to increase and produce coins in order to make money

@Roy Forum rules clearly state that this sort of post should go in the trade section with a price attached! Experience shows that a photo will assist with a speedy sale.

The ones buying at this stage will mostly be collectors so profit would be irrelevant to them. Most flippers would have bought them on issue.
The same with the 2017 sovereign. The collectors who missed out on issue are buying them at current prices. I don't think they really care if they can or will make a profit on it in the future.
That's the things with flippers, collectors and stackers. The primary reason for picking something maybe be different for each of them.

Yesterday I received two SBSB 1oz silver proof Argyraspides rounds.

"The Argyraspides, so called because they used silver plated shields, were a division of the Macedonian Army under Alexander the Great. They were hand picked men commanded by Nicanor, son of Parmenion and were held in high regard by Alexander. Originally they were a type of soldier called Hypaspists or "shield bearers" They were made up of older men but they were one of Alexander the Great's most feared units."

There is also a 1/10th oz version of which  the coin creator Chris Duane says:
"The short story behind it is that throughout all of history and 2/3 of the world today, 1/10 of an ounce of silver represents 1 days labor.  Roman soldiers were paid a denarius for each day they served the Roman Legion. In Sun Tzu's the Art of War a 10,000 man army could be bought for a 1,000 ounces of silver a day."

    ***************
It would be nice if during my retirement I was able to live off each of my 1 oz silver coins for 10 days!

I suppose that this coin with a mintage of 2850 is doing well for them as  my COAs are 2307 and 2336.

    Cheers,
    Luker

I paid 20% VAT on the contents including the $40 Australian postage and £8 fee.
I have written to Border Force with a claim to have the VAT recalculated using 5% and not 20%.
If I obtain a refund I will post here but it might take a few weeks to hear back from them.

My silver coins ( carded RAM Kangaroos ) from Australia arrived yesterday and the numismatic / collectibles commodity code of 97.05.00.020 declared.
Despite this clearly shown, full VAT was charged so I have just completed a Border Force form to try and have the VAT reduced to 5%.

    Ridiculous.
I don't think they even bother checking them now; just slap 20% on and hope the recipient doesn't have the energy to apply for the refund.

Best of luck getting it back!

If your package is declared correctly and you then complete the forms correctly. Then yes.

I suggest you compare the final amount of cash you would receive if selling on eBay.
Forget the Buy it Now prices etc and check the sold auctions then deduct 15%.
Don't overlook auctions that end with a low price due to timing or bad luck - if the seller.
That sets the benchmark then try advertising on this forum around the benchmark price.
Perhaps you can get 5% more but many of us on this forum are experienced and many on eBay aren't.
If you really want to minimise fees then list your coin on the alternative site to eBay called e-Bid.
Unfortunately this site is less well known compared to eBay but I have used it and it works exactly the same as eBay.
If you have popular coins and price fairly then I would suggest this forum first then eBay or e-Bid if you get no luck.

Simular to ebay with no fees .
You say when it ends and you set your start price.
Search "auction" for examples. I found 1 streight away.
You' ll save on ebay fees and been messed about.

i see there is a UK seller of Silver Shield members rounds on this site.
The reason i ask is i joined the Silver Shield exchange only to find i am effectively barred from it as i do not have a US bank account. When i looked into getting a US account, not being a US citizen/resident the way forward on getting a US bank account is problematical.
