BackyardBullion got a reaction from MBTPSilver in Royal Mail/Fail..."Dangerous Goods" Completely stupid
You can't make this up...
I will hold any excitement until it's in my possession and contents have been checked.
Good news I suppose!

Oh, I totally agree.
The Royal Mint are opportunistic money grabbers
I honestly think they didnt know about this glitch and are only just now figuring out that they gave away £100,000's in lost revenue to silver forum members 🙂

once they have offered the price, and you have agreed and paid, a contract is formed, that is it

I mean, they don't have a clue about what they are doing quite frankly.
I also don't know enough about consumer rights to know if this is legal for them to ask for the difference.
If they are doing this then surely 100's emails will be coming out to Silver Forum members, I think we hoovered up nearly 1000 of these bars collectively!

Edinburgh have been amazing.
They are assisting in every way you would expect for the claim and then beyond that too.
They have been trying to get further information from their "Next to uselss" account manager (their words not mine).
Can't fault the assay office at all.
I have many questions on the faults of Royal Mail though.

The following are now missing.
30x 100g Silver Forum Bars (2024) - Hallmarked but NO serial numbers on the side.
6x Assorted chess pieces - Hallmarked but no weight markings.
If anyone sees them being put up for sale or see them anywhere on the internet pleae let me know as this will be reported to the police.

That 40 oz is still to this day the single largest piece of silver I have ever made.

I have just had confirmation that I will be getting a £2500 payment. I will also be getting £27.89 in postage refund and a £50 goodwill payment to "Restore my confidence in the service they provide"
Totally crazy.
I asked for a £250 goodwill payment to split the difference on the £500 in losses I am facing from the difference in price of silver and the other losses from hallmarking/postage etc.
The CEO office reply was simply, No.
It would seem they have chosen "Trial by combat"
Crazy that if the Royal Mail finds my package they could just sell the silver for £2800 spot price and be in profit over £200
It has happened before...
https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/15859526/royal-mail-missing-parcels-sold-at-auction/
Would not put it past them.
If this happens eventually there will be some very strongly worded videos produced and a number of solicitors letters sent me thinks.

A good will payment would be the difference between £2,500 and spot. Along with a letter that says, we didn't have to but we wanted to.

Yeah, I mean if you factor that in then its a lot more.
They won't entertain any additional claims, they have made that quite clear.

That £2500 insurance limit is a bloody joke in 2024. Especially considering what they're now charging for the service.

I have one for certain and possibly up to two more £2500 value packages being sent to Northern Ireland for an 8-10 week stay at the dangerous goods centre.
Long story short, silver being sent to and from Edinburgh Assay Office.
The packages got there all OK, no delays.
Coming back to me, they get pulled out by the Civil Aviation Authority and normally this would then go through the road network.
This did not happen.
What I have been told is that the sorting centre/CAA people check it once, if unsure they put it to one side to look at again. If they still cant work it out, off to Ireland it goes.
Their turnaround is 8-10 weeks to check these packages.
Totally c**p.
Royal Mail, putting the special back into special delivery.
