gold is performing in line with what is 'realistically' expected of it as a long term store of wealth.
the s&p500 took 13 years to move higher from it's dotcom high in 2000.
those who expect results immediately will be disappointed. 2011 ended a gold bull run within a multi decade
cycle. it's going to take time(decades) before the next peak occurs.

You are right, but...
I have forgotten now how much we bought on that last dip, probably spent about £1 million, which was about all we had spare, although we still keep some in reserve in case someone arrives with 1000 sovereigns to sell. To buy more, we would need to be dealing in futures contracts on margins, which we avoid. Most bullion market deals are "cash" or "OTC", for immediate payment (actually 48 hours).

I would have said that
specific gravity is how many times more dense a substance is when compared to a baseline substance(usually water)
usually
specific gravity = (density of substance) divided by (density of water)

then you are thinking in the past.
a lump of gold represents someone else's hard labour to get the metal in a useful form.
inheriting it, you can spend it or leave it as an heirloom. but you have no way of expanding it.
a comparable understanding of gold allows you to secure any gold you come across in your
lifetime and add to it when possible. the work is not done but the world is your oyster.
compare: give a man a fish and he might be fed for a day, give a man the ability to fish and
he might go fishing every day.

The last time you said I was wrong, I asked you to explain, which you failed to do, but now you are repeating the same unfounded and inaccurate claim, and will probably again fail to explain.
Actually I probably got it wrong last weekend, in your terms. As I said in an earlier post
By luck or good judgement, we held off our daily top up buying of new bullion coins late last week, so instead of buying silver based on £18.50+, when we resumed early this week, we were buying based at spot prices under £17 per ounce. This also applied to gold bullion, where prices dropped from £1300+ to about £1250 per ounce, although gold has now recovered some ground and is currently over £1270 per ounce.
Since then, we bought about 620 ounces of gold, and 14,000 ounces of silver.
I have not bothered to work it out, but at a quick guess, we saved or made about £30K on the gold and about £20K on the silver.
I'm looking forward to the next time I am wrong. 😎
P.S. A slight apology is perhaps due. My comments and actions mentioned above were all done while thinking about P.M. prices in sterling. I just noticed that this topic is for monitoring gold prices in U.S. dollars only. My excuses are (1) that I tend to think in English, and (2) that I was primarily responding to a tagged mention, and did not see the topic heading until a few hours later. 🙂

you were right. you said be wary of the hype causing higher silver price than they should be
and since you've said it the silver price has dropped by a measurable amount. this also
coincides with less pumping of the silver price via youtube, etc.
this fact in written in the pages of history. but forum members just won't acknowledge it.
black and white, plain as can be. it was another example of how ungrateful some forum
members are. you didn't have to share that data but you did. following your suggestion at
the time would have saved forum members a penny or 2.
I said that you were right, but I don't see any other forum members doing the same despite
the fact that anyone who followed your suggestion would have made money.
the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
talk about being brainwashed. people rather believe in extravagant manipulation excuses than
simply making a winning trade.

similar to how someone would sell an item quickly and cheaply, in order to buy something that
they believe would make them more money. all markets can be 'irrational for longer than you are
solvent'. a poor understanding of markets that leads to the conclusion of manipulation?

some people would rather bend every truth out there than to admit that they were wrong.
the fact that you were suggesting that silver prices were likely up due to hype not so long ago,
and hence the fall back... not important because they must be right and you must be wrong.
so now all of the 'explanations' of how you were wrong is coming out.

oil also dropped yesterday. ~1.4%.
that is because copper is more weighted to following the group that included the us stock market that rose yesterday.
it's like how gold made an all time high in 2020 but silver did not. short term divergence happens all the time otherwise
they would be 100% correlated and not 60+% correlated.

how much of what people are experiencing are price premium hikes(due to supply problems)?

HawkHybrid reacted to FloJo in Importing Investment Gold into the UK
Yipee!!!! 😁 My Order arrived today 😎 Even after what happened, I would still purchase from Coin Invest dot com again, as their prices for certain gold bars is £200+ cheaper than the UK sites I previously purchased from!
In today's prices a Valcambi 10 x 1/10 oz Gold CombiBar is £1569.67 from Atkinsons Bullion. It's £1471.77 (includes £33.45 Customs Declaration + 2% credit card fee £28.57 + £14.95 p&p) from Coin Invest so, £97.90 cheaper after all fees!
I purchased Heraeus 100 x 1g gold bar from Bullion By Post for £4657. Had I purchased it from Atkinsons Bullion dot com, it would have been £4425 (£232 cheaper). From Coin Invest it would have been £4552 (so £105 cheaper inc. 2% credit card fees & postage/customs). So, Atkinson wins out with that one!
It pays to shop around but, I'm not buying gold from Bullion By Post ever again. I only started stacking (gold & silver) since March this year 2021, and I have certainly had a rapid, indepth education in the last 4 months (seems longer)! During this time (since March 2021) I've bought silver from the Royal Mint UK, silver from APMEX USA on eBay!!!!!! Plus silver CombiBars from other Sellers on eBay - here in the UK, also Germany & USA! I wouldn't do that now! Atkinsons gives me the best deals on silver 100g combibars.
I've been on a steep learning curve since March but now I've run out of fiat currency and can’t buy anything anymore‼️😂
I hope that someone else will learn from my experience and know that they're not alone in this stacking adventure. FloJo x

there are many reproductions of rare coins. until an expert verifies it by hand, I would be
inclined to believe that there's every chance of it not being an original.
maybe try an ancient coins shop?

From a £1500 investment £15 a day would be a 1% daily return or 360% yearly - not going to happen im afraid without Highly speculative high risk investments you are more than likely going to lose the lot.
Some good advice in this topic though, and its great to want to grow your money but I think you will need to scale back your expectations drastically.
Good luck!
