I wish the UK had the same custom, it'd be a darn sight better than receiving , towels, toaster or a box of pampers.

Yeah I'd seen those, but I'm certainly not daft enough to pay 10% over spot.. If I can get them for 4-5% over spot elsewhere I'll be buying.

I have to agree there, however my aim is as the gold silver ratio gets lower I will start to convert my silver into gold. After all, it is easier to store 1oz of gold than 60 odd oz's of silver. Not sure yet what the figure I will choose before I start to swap over, but the ratio has been as high as 72 and as low as 32, in the last 5 years, With it sitting at around 62/63 at the moment, I'm thinking anything below 50 is worth moving over.

When it gets to my retirement, and I slowly sell off my investments to pay for my exotic holidays and my beer. It will be easier on the old legs to carry a few ounces of gold to the dealers, than lumping kilos of silver for the same price.

First Edition, pristine condition, very very pleased. It wouldn't surprise me if the seller has managed to find an unopened box from the printers, because the book looks like it has never seen the light of day since it left the printers in 1982. It is impossible to find a better condition book anywhere in the world, and certainly you won't find it cheaper

There are several sellers at Cheddar Boot Fair who sell 925 flatware at spot value. They buy at 80% of spot. They've usually got a few grands worth of stock available

HighlandTiger got a reaction from Hunter87 in Daft question, sorry - Do stackers cut their own hair??
I did my own a couple of times in the first lockdown, I don't have much hair so it only needs doing every 6 weeks or so. But a new Turkish barber opened up locally early last year, so I go to him now. (when open). Number 1 all over, eyebrows trimmed, ear hair burnt off with the flaming cotton bud, hair(well scalp), washed and dried, and a generous spray of the latest aftershave all for £5, (always tip £2 extra). Oh and you get one free hair cut after 10 cuts, (stamps your card)
Superb value and I'm helping to keep a local business open.

Yellowcake did not do so well, maybe because they are middle men?

@HerefordBullyun did you invest in Zinnwald? What price?

Afritin. Are they not owned by the same company - or linked?
Not a lot of Tin exposure on the UK markets and this mine is apparently huge with massive deposits and a lot of un charted areas.
I like the CEO really genuine and realistic & yes it looks cheap.
I have been looking at Rio tinto as it has global exposure and a great dividend, but its very expensive now.
Might pick that up on a crash or on big dips?
I would be tempted to sell it if commodities fly also, so wont get much from the dividend long term.

This was a great video from yesterday about commodities and gold etc. Savvy bloke.

    Nice.
I am sure I saw somehting about Opec keeping the price down artificially?
Think i would be tempted to sell my shares in BP if it hits an upper limit.

Wish I had kept my shares in WTI, Shell and BP now, but Im 3k in profit over all now.
Not bad for my first year in trading, considering I have Parkinson's when I go anywhere near the sale button.

I will buy Shell and Total as the first thing if the market collapses.
A lot of green energy stocks and EV stocks will be panic sold more I tihnk? Tesla for example.

I need to spend a day looking at how hard different stocks were hit.
Amazon & Google would be lovely at bargain prices.

    BP ripping up today.

Mr Looney must be pleased. Guess its just the oil price increase?
I removed half my investment this morning to distribute into GSK, but still made a bit of a profit.

This is good to see. Might turn out the oil majors become the tops stocks in renewables in 10 years?

That just means there is a actual bottom to the market that hovers just above zero, not that the market will stay the same forever.
Many on here are in their 30's saving for their retirement in 40 years time. I can guarantee 100% that if collectible coins are put away today and sold in 40 years time, you will probably have made zero profit, when factoring inflation, storage and insurance into the equation.
Can anyone name me 5 coins, out of all the coins minted in the 1970's that if sold today  will have made a profit.

So you wouldn't compare coins with stamps.

Even though the highest price ever paid for a coin and a stamp is about the same $10m
The stamp collecting market is worth about $10 billion per year, for printed pieces of paper, the coin collecting market is about $18billion, and that includes people collecting for metal intrinsic value as well,

I think they compare quite well, and lessons learnt in one form of collecting should be heeded in the other. Coin Collecting today is where stamps were in the 1970's and 80's. I see the exact same patterns occuring today in coin collecting, that I saw in stamps many decades ago. It's one of the reasons I'm slowly moving out of coins. As the use of coins in general circulation falls, interest from the kids who will be the collectors of the future falls. Slowly the number of collectors diminishes as the old guys die, (have you seen the average age of collectors at coin fairs), and the bottom falls out of the market.
I'll be out before that happens.

zimbabwe government has not adopted the gold standard(something you brought up).
this is irrelevant however, as zimbabweans were using panned gold as payment for bread
(they are not using fiat currency) which is what I said. the point being they moved from
currency to no longer using currency, then they moved back to using currency. are they all
retards by moving back to using fiat currency?
please don't mis-read what I post and then claim that I'm wrong because you mis-read the post.

The UK does have a constitution, it just doesn't have a written constitution.

     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitution_of_the_United_Kingdom
The Constitution of the United Kingdom or British constitution is the system of rules that decides the political governance of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Unlike in most countries, such as the US, it is not codified into a single document. Thus, it is known as an uncodified constitution. This enables the constitution to be easily amended as rules are not entrenched.[2] However, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom recognises that there are constitutional principles, including parliamentary sovereignty, the rule of law, democracy and upholding international law.[3]

    Quite straightforward.
Someone started a rumour that the Reddit traders were going to target the big silver shorts by buying en masse.
As per standard trading rules, speculators bought the rumour to get in early, confident the price would go up over the weekend and on Monday.
When it became obvious the rumour was incorrect, they then "sold the fact" and the price came back down again, netting them a tidy little profit.
Who started the rumor is anyone's guess?
